the exterior shapes and material really set this building apart. How different is this sort of metal going to be to take care of compared to traditional steel i wonder? it looks spiffy and fresh right now but what will 25 years do the outside? This building is awesome so far, straight out of the future! I can just imagine how it will reflect its neighboring structures much less the sky on a bright day.

The following information was last updated on August 11, 2009.

* Superstructure erection is underway, now at 54 stories
* Curtain wall installation continues, now on floor 24. The brick facade on the lower stories is complete.
* The contract RFP for finishing work on the building's school was issued in late May 2009.
* Full sidewalk closures on Spruce and Beekman Streets beside the work site
* Extended work hours Monday through Saturdays 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
* The rooftop safety "cocoon" was reinstalled in early July 2009

Wow... just 20 floors to go. Thats around 4 months to go to the top ! T/O in October-November?

that view from the north reminds me of a modernized GE Building. similar proportions and soaring height

It's stainless steel I believe, so it will probably hold up pretty well =)

Stainless steel is pretty expansive. They were using it for smaller buildings by Gehry, such as Düsseldorf Media Harbour or Disney Concert Hall. But for a skyscraper? Are you sure?
