How exactly is it uncalled for erbse? It's a stunning photo and they're showing their appreciation for it. If you hate the tower so much and want it pulled down, why even bother posting on this thread?

I don't hate it, read my other comments on it. It bothers me how it's hiding the Woolworth.

Anyway, 3 people posting drool smileys in a row is spam in my eyes. And this is no skybar.
I'm a relaxed dude but such kids are pretty annoying. They're everywhere on SSC.

That's stupid, let people post what they want. There is no age limit on excitement. If you have a problem with the faces go somewhere else...

beauty....

At first glance it didn't look all that... but i love the steel look in the exterior and the curved modern look... and watching this tower rise is amazing. This will surely be a great addition to the downtown skyline.

Amazing how 5-6 years ago this would be considered groundbreaking, fresh and original and yet now people criticize it as boring unoriginal and dated.

DarrylStrawberry, Wired New York.

Apparently the top of the crane in this picture is about the top of the building, don't know exactly how many floors that is.

Oof, I wouldn't go as far to say that it is now deemed unoriginal and dated. I'd definitely argue against them people. I can see this style with the wavey facade being used elsewhere around the world but this is being used in a much more quality way.

I'm going to go as far to say that this is easily going to be in my top 10 favourite skyscrapers. It just oozes quality in construction and design, which is odd considering how I am actually not a fan of any of Frank Gehry's works apart from this one right now. I would love to buy an apartment here.

I agree, it seems more than a slapped together half-arsed job (like that skinny one on 8th ave). They could have easily made a boring re-concrete box & slapped fancy cladding on, but they are integrating the final exterior shape in the floor plan, not just the cladding. I look forward to when this is finished, will look nice from the BB.

That is awesome cladding. I love the Woolworth Building too, but that's what you get with new development, something gets hidden.

It's kind of cool to have them side by side. They’re two different New York masterpieces, from two different centuries. I like the contrast.

I love the building.
But I think there are more than enough skyscrapers in Manhattan. The charm of the peninsula will be lost if they're gonna build more high buildings there.

It's time for skyscrapers in North-West Brooklynn and Jersey City!!
