I was born in New York City as was my mother and father, and both my brothers, all my aunts and uncles, etc. I live 90 miles from NYC and spent the weekend there last weekend.

what a surprise since a nickname of NYC is gotham city and this building is in NYC, as well as gotham city is NYC even in the movies, except for the last batman movie

Honestly, looks like a less sucessful attempt of what Aqua in Chicago nailed.

Yeah, no comparison. I've seen Aqua in person, and it is breathtaking when viewed from the base and up to about 100 yards away; but beyond that it's a mess. This will be a shimmering silver beacon from 10 yards, a thousand yards, heck--even 10 miles away.

I think it is the other way around. Out of respect for the people behind Aqua no one mentioned this but Aqua is actually a low cost wanna-be version of this building because this one is actual wavy facade with much more thought and details. Aqua is a common box you can find anywhere dressed up in baconies with variant length, which is much easier to think of and implement. Aqua can put on a sexy dress and hide what is underneath, but Beekman Place actually has a sexy body. The amount of work and thought put into these two buildings can't be compared at all. I always respected people's work so I never poured this kind of comments to the Aqua thread but in reality if you think about it, Aqua belongs to those who take a short cut and try to be something they aren't.

Wow...hard to believe anyone would think Aqua is a better design, I think the exact opposite way.

LOL.

At least the Aqua carried out its design on all sides of the building, and doesn't have a hideous base that completely contradicts the rest of the tower.

I think he is just one of those Chicago boosters trying to turn this into a city vs. city thread. We should neglect him.

I don't see the challenge of varying the lengths of balconies/slabs for all four sides of Aqua. The amount of work can't be compared for these two towers. Just because we don't say negative comments about Aqua doesn't mean it is a genius design. The idea for Aqua is actually very cheap. The slabs are added to the original building. They are not integrated parts. They can be made into any shape and you don't have to care about what is inside because it is essentially a box. It is barely better than putting up a fancy poster on top of an ordinary box. Very cheap design.

You beat me to it, I thought the same thing. I do like the building, but not compared to this one. To me the sides that are straight lend a mysterious quality to those that have the waves.

Aqua looks like shit unless you're standing right next to it. The same can't be said for Beekman.
