New floor goin' up! I guess it's more like 78 floors, or could there be more? Someone on Wired New York said this is mechanical, but could there be some kind of crown too? Everyone cross your fingers, the fourth setback has begun!

Possibly, to hide roof equipment they probably will need at least two floors. And I suppose a small crown is always possible...you would think it would look stupid to have an extremely short 4th set back.

Someone said on Wired New York that there's rebar sticking out of the top of the newest floor they're putting up right now. Looks like we're going up again.

The building is already supposed to be toped out, there is only supposed to be 76 floors. But there are now 78, with a possible 79. The render could be right, but the press releases are wrong, meaning the height of the building could certainly be more than 867 feet. The mechanical floors at the top are sometimes not counted in the offical occupancy height, which is 867 feet. The render is also deceiving, to me it looks like this is a fourth smaller setback. Maybe I'm wrong, we'll have to wait and see.

I count 27 floors in the last set back from that render. I counted the floors in Tylow's picture a few posts above and it's also exactly 27 floors (which includes the new floor u/c). I'd like some others to count as well, but I think it's correct. So it doesn't appear any new floors.

Onn, where do you see a new setback from that render??

If I wasn't at work right now, I'd edit the pics in MS Paint. But I think my count is accurate. Unless the render is wrong. Which is possible I'll concede. But I still count 27 floors on both pics.

They were saying on Wired New York that the newest floor is setback further from the floor below it, and the pictures above seem to back that. Now, in truth that may not be true, but if you look at the render than the extra tall cladding at the top of the building should stop at an all concrete mechanical floor, comparing it with the cladding that has been put on the first set of transition floors already. I don't know, but since we've already had a topping out ceremony something fishy is definitely going on here. And then there is also the permit for construction above the 76th floor, and three extra crane booms.

Counting I'm getting 27 or 28 floors from the last transition to top of the current all concrete floor. This construction looks like it's certainly higher than floor 76. It's hard to tell, but I'm pretty sure one of those two numbers.

Edit: Or perhaps 26, and this is number 27. But if there is rebar sticking out of the current floor that would be another. Hard to say.

Topping out ceremonies are just PR stunts. Nobody should ever read too much into them.

I counted both wings on the render and I get 27 floors for the final setback. Tylow's picture is a bit small without my photoshop to zoom in on, but I'm pretty sure their at 27 floors. Got another hour of work before I can get home to my computer and count again.

Ohhh wait, I get it. People keep saying there are 27 floors to the top, but there are actually 28. The top "floor" is actually two floors, but on the render it looks like 1 floor because of the large cladding. Okay, 77 floors makes sense now.

Well, here's my count. The render matches whats been built. (At least to me.)

I really doubt it's going higher.
