No, one more floor after this. The last floor is actually composed of two floors, it just like one floor on the render because the cladding itself covers two floors. We can see the same on the transition floors which have already been cladded, I just figured that out. There is actually 77 floors, there were never 76. Still one more to go!

I don't see it Onn. The top looks like it's just two mech floors and that's it. The 26th and 27th of the final setback by my counting. I guess we'll just have to let the next week or two decide the outcome.

Looks like the progress slowed down heavily. Last time I looked here must be ages ago and I hardly recognize new cladding elements.

Indeed. Something like the Chrysler gargoyles would be awesome.

Why would a developer leave out 30-40 feet of height and several floors from the public? That makes no sense whatsoever. It'll be 876 feet and 76 floors.

This could have a 77th floor if they skip the 13th as many residential buildings do.

CTBUH has this listed as 876' and 76 floors. Their figures are based on the actual architectural blueprints of the building. They are the most reliable source.

The Emporis figures include mechanical floors and crown heights and they also have it at 876'.

Onn, that is not a new floor above the cocoon. That is the 27th floor above the last setback, which in the renders, is the last floor. There is not going to be another above.

The DOB website is viewable by everyone. I've perused the database myself and I've never seen an example of a building's official height different from what an owner files to the department. Please find one bondjamesbond and post it please. I'd be very curious if what you say is true.

I maybe in minnesota, but I can count floors. I'm done with this discussion.

The NYC DoB permit is for 867'. That is 10'/3m under the Emporis & CTBUH figures. Not sure how to account for the discrepancy. Typo?

I've heard that some have found docs at DOB that say 876'. It's easy to transpose 76 and 67.

I think it's moot however. Why would a developer not publicly say their tower is 9xx feet high. Why say 867 or 876 when it's really ~900? There is no logical reason for it. There are many other projects in NY for residential buildings taller than this, it's may hold the record for awhile (it'll take the record for tallest residential in the city from Trump World Tower), but records never last. Not with 30 Park Place going up, or 56 Leonard, or a host of others.

I guess I'm not done with this argument. I love a good debate too much. Cheers.

Then why is there rebar sticking out of the top? Sounds like another floor to me, I think there's one more still to go. I'm almost sure of it.

That rebar can easily be removed. Maybe it's just part of the construction method. I'm not an expert by any means, but in the other mechanical sections it was two floors as well.

The tower is definitely taller than anything downtown besides the spires on both 40 Wall Street and the American International Building on Pine Street.

It definitely looks like a 900 foot building when your near it or compare it to the rest of the skyline downtown. But 40-50 feet you won't really be able to judge from that high up.
