I like how the building on the far left is a modern iteration of the 1920s/30s era NY buildings with set backs like the white stone one a little to its right.

I never noticed that before.

i'm bored (actually i'm not but my project isn't moving forward) ... so here are some pics from newyork.construction.com:

There is no appreciable cost premium for the expansive, stainless-steel unitized curtain wall, courtesy of architect Frank Gehry and intensive engineering.

Exact placement of 14,000 curtain-wall embeds on segmented slab edges was required for success.

Projecting flat windows, connected by stainless-steel panels, form the creases and folds of the 427,734-sq-ft unitized curtain wall.

Beekman’s unitized curtain wall

The 867-ft-tall Beekman Tower in Lower Manhattan is the tallest residential building in New York by 7 ft.

also read the article! it's quite informative!

I never get bored either...always something to do. I love the pics and man that article is cool. This to me is the coolest tower going up cause the skin is so far out in left field from anything else out there and I love unique architecture.

While I also like Chicago's Aqua, this baby takes the prize!

I've often wondered how the city that pioneered skyscraper development can seemingly be so slow and inept at developing them today. This thing is going so slow it's pathetic. And what about BofA Tower? Add in the political wrangling, the almost insurmountable NIMBYism, the constant delays at the WTC site, the near-monthly crane collapses and construction fires, etc. and you have to wonder how anything gets done there.

Beautiful tower though. Hopefully it will be finished someday...

Most cities would love to have NY's "problems" as you see them. For every bad project, NY has several that succeed. Most US cities struggle just getting a handful of new developments every decade. Where I live, the twin cities haven't had a new spec office tower built in 10 years.

NY media complains about the cities 12% office vacancy rate. A lot of downtown CBD's would be doing backflips if they had a rate of 12%.

NY's "problems" are the envy of most cities.

Remember that NY was the site of the worst terrorist attack in US history. This adds many new avenues for red tape that never existed before. And since all who issue them are human, well there ya go. Yeah it's a damn miracle anything gets done, that's why most of us celebrate the skyline changes, no matter how few.
