Arz, you have every right to support who you like and it is clear you are promoting FPM views, however please do not turn this thread into ....

You have opened up a whole can of worms and this is not the place for it. You also used disrespectful attacks on others (even though indirectly) so I urge you to apologize and end this debate right here and now. I really dont want to lock this thread but it looks like I might have to soon.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, but no one should be talking religion or politics in the first place. When someone messes with my religion, my political stance, etc., I'm not going to sit back and watch it happen. I will defend!

The Christians were furious with this, but what could've they done? Now, that Hariri is in hell...oops, I mean dead, many Christians began calling for a legitimate census. So, during the past elections, the government tried to get an accurate reflection and declared that Lebanon's Christians account for between 43-45%. Regardless of the numbers being thrown out, it is accurate to declare that Lebanon's diaspora is composed of about 15 million Lebanese immigrants whose vast majority is Christian. Luckily, there is an electoral law being discussed in Lebanon (in the Hiwar that will take place in about a week) that will grant suffrage to all its expatriates. If this law does get passed, Lebanon will truly turn into a Christian state. Or, if not into a Christian state, it will be under Christian influence. Even if this law doesn't get passed (which is unlikely), Michel Aoun is predicted to become the next president and win much more seats in Parliament (which was taken away from because of the 2000 Electoral Law).
Guys, don't believe the 30% Christian statistic. I used to, but when I found out about the "Hariri Foundation" and the Sunni propaganda, everything changed. The Sunni Dictatorship is on the verge of a collapse. It is just to say that Christians are approximately 45% of the country.
Oh, and one more thing, analysts who have taken time to conduct studies on demographics in Lebanon use past elections to seek "accuracy." And, who doesn't know that many Christians protested the past elections beacause of Syrian influence?

I really hate talking about demographics, but when people begin yitfalsifo, I have to stop them before they make bigger idiots out of themselves.
If anyone was doing the insulting it was you. I dont recall anyone attacking your religion or your political views...

And we werent talking religion or politics, we were discussing Lebanese genetic make-up and history as well as the current demographics and religious breakdown of the country (not about religious beliefs).

We all made it clear there is no way to know really about the percentages... and I even stated that Christians may be the majority when you include the diaspora (which I do), but that doesn't mean you can call Lebanon "a Christian State" because obviously that will offend non-Christians.... besides I thought Aoun was opposed to sectarianism?

I didn't want to participate in the debate going over. But arzliban's post has made me to comment.

How come you state that Sunni dictatorship is soon going to collapse?
First of all, it's not Sunni dictatorship. It is March 14 forces. The latter consists of Christians, Sunnis, Druzes,... This party does not believe in dictatorship.

Secondly, it is so obvious that you, Free Patriotic Movement or General Aoun, are pretty sad and don't know the measure and/or mean to elect Gen. Aoun the next president of the Republic. I cannot imagine him at Baadbe Palace.

Thirdly, you oppose the 2000 electoral law, that's right, because it is not fair, I agree. But now, for your own political benefits, how come you support all the satellite parties of Syria and still claim you do not.

Arzliban, I do not want to start a "fight", but sometimes in a community like this, you have to think before you type and state a view.

And the most important thing. How come you say Hariri is in hell? He was our late Prime Minister. The best PM ever to be in Lebanon (nowadays PM Siniora is the same) He was murdered by a state we all know who it is. So please, watch your language!

Guys, stop this crap, no one cares if theres 30, 40, 50, 60% Christian, Shia or Sunni. We are all Lebanese and thats what it counts. Stop further hijacking this thread, go do it somewhere else.

I even see some women dressed that way here in NY! (Rarely, though)
Here in the North America it proabaly will become more of a debate, maybe after the elections in US, in Canada situations involving religous dress occur at times in the courts- the daggar that Sihks wear, for exemple went to the British Columbia high court, and Shiria Law was struck down in Ontario and Quebec. In the US people are more conservative, so it will be interesting to see if the candor will make it in the courts sometime.

People also tell me different percentages, I dont know who to believe. Whether higher or lower, Lebanon is still an amazing country.
