I got major news!

There are two new towers that are being planned - that does not mean they are accepted or going to go under construction. They are simply PLANS. Most of us are aware of Korea's numerous plans that sometimes go astray.

One tower is 600 meters and 140 floors, and will be in Seoul. I believe in Yongsan. It is just under the Incheon Towers... then...

There is one skyscraper that could be 960 METERS and 220 floors! Which will also be in Seoul.

Here's a link to the Korean article: http://www.hankyung.com/news/app/new...=2007022150481

I doubt the 220 floors skyscraper will get built any time soon in that area. Any highrises above a certain height is prohibited in areas within Seoul's city walls, and that building's in it.

As for 140 floors/600 meters tower in Yongsan, it's only a proposal, though a "landmark" tower is planned there. Currently, Yongsan District of Seoul, where the tower will be built, proposed to the Seoul Metropolitan Government to raise the heigh limit of 350m to over 615m(5m more than 610m of Incheon Tower so it could become the tallest in Korea). This is as of February 23rd, 2007. In reply, the city mayor said that a consensus is needed first. However, he did imply his willingness to build a super-tall there. The location is ideal for a supertall in Seoul, as it's right smack in the center of the city.

Yongsan is exploding with development. There must be almost 40 towers either recently completed or under construction in the area. Anyone who visits the area for the first time in 5 years will hardly recognize it.

Eh, yup :3

Lotte World Busan is under construction
AIG Main Tower and Parc 1 are approved, I believe
Northeast Asia Trade Tower and Incheon Towers are definitely going to be built - New Songdo City is a free economic zone and a lot of restrictions that apply throughout Korea do not apply in the zone.
IBC is approved I believe, but as of late I do not know what is going on.

Lotte World 2 is under hiatus... as always.
I really do not know about Millenium World Business Center Busan
The Yongsan and Sewoon skyscrapers are just plans/conceptions - but I'm sure more news will come about the towers.

"Incheon Towers [610 meters / 2,000 feet] [151 floors] [U/C; Completion: 2010] [Incheon / New Songdo City]"

is that right, that the towers are UC?
and btw, wasn't the height 640m?

I believe construction is going to start this year... so I decided to say it was u/c.

I need more info as you can see :P

I always thought it was 610 meters, if you have a definite source that says it will be 640 meters I'll happily change it.

These projects are great, but they seem so out of place. Lots of small buildings and the boom 600m... seems rather out of place if you ask me. Still some real awesome designs especially the Melenium tower... me likes.

I got that impression for awhile as well.

However, the skyscraper boom isn't limited to simply 500-600+ towers.
There'll be plenty more 100-200 meter skyscrapers, and there are some right now. Many are being built currently.
You can also expect more 'average' sized supertalls (300-500) as the years comeby.

I would not expect many proposals for skyscrapers over 600 meters.

Okay, well I found out construction is going to start late this year and will be completed in 2012.

UPDATE!
Also!
I updated the frontpage. There is no new content, just added a color scheme so it is easier to see which towers are u/c, proposed, accepted, and etc.
