New York City: One World Trade Center 1,776'/541m (part V)

Unfortunately we need to start a new thread because particular newbies ( which we spent a month offline to accomodate want to be scumbags... let's hope we can all be mature and keep the context of our comments pertaining to this project as civilized as we possibly can. Hopefully all jealousy induced bickering and new poster trolling will be banned at first strike. We were very patient in waiting for this site to come back on I would hope the mods can reward that patience with swift punishment (Banning) to any new posting trolls we sacrificed for:

As per Spooky873:

Completion - 1st Quarter 2011

Size - 2,600,000 sf

Floors - 80-foot-high public lobby topped by a series of mechanical floors form a 200-foot-high building base. 69 tenant floors rise above the base to 1120 feet elevation. Mechanical floors, two floors to be occupied by the Metropolitan Television Alliance, restaurants and observation decks culminate in an observation deck and glass parapet that mark 1362' and 1368' respectively — the heights of the original Twin Towers. An antenna supported by a cable structure rises to a final height of 1776'

Location - Freedom Tower is located in the northwest corner of the 16-acre World Trade Center site, bounded by Vesey, West, Washington and Fulton Streets.

Building Amenities - Observation decks, world-class restaurants, and the Manhattan Television Alliance (MTVA) broadcast and antennae facilities.
All floors served by direct elevators. Cross-over elevator banks at floors 20, 29, 37 and 45.
Ground floor contains a secure, 45-foot-high marble and glass entry lobby facing Greenwich Street, where access is limited to black cars and taxis.
Loading dock with five bays accessible from Washington Street.
Each floor served by individually tenant-controlled DHX units.
Each floor has 6w per sf of power available, with additional power if required.

Transportation - Freedom Tower offers access to mass transportation (including the A, C, E, 1, 2, 3, N, R , 4, 5, J, M, Z and PATH trains) both at grade and through an underground concourse with entry immediately outside the building and running from the new Fulton Street Transit Center to Battery Park City and the World Financial Center.

- The desired schedule for construction, calls for the tower's foundation to commence April of 2006, concrete to grade by the end of 2007, topping out in 2009 and completion in 2011.
- This building will consist of 69 office floors, and 13 non-office floors with uses ranging from mechanical to dining.
- Ground for actual construction (different from the cornerstone placing) was broken on April 27, 2006.
- A parapet wall around the roof will bring the building's height to 1,368, the same height as the old North Tower.
- The 187-foot-high base will be concrete clad in over 2,000 pieces of prismatic glass.
- The 408-feet tall decorative spire will encase an antenna with a lighting system to make it into a beacon.
- Foundation work started in July 2006.

This is 1 of those buildings that i have never seen an image that shows me what it is like, there are lots above but i can never visualise its full shape size etc, maybe a visit in 2011 to see what it is like, i imagine it will be clad similarly to the Trump in Toronto

As much as I agree that there will be no city comparisons in this thread, there will also be no personal attacks on anyone who opposes the FT.

Ahhmmmen NYGal. I just want to see the project with either information on such and its updates and no $0.02 opinions on this nor on NYC.

Thanks for putting the intro together. Keep our fingers crossed for this thread.

Those renderings are much better than the previous ones that I've seen.

The buildings that surround the FREEDOM Tower look really good, I hope they all get built.

So what I said last about this project: It will give NYC world class skyline again, bringing back in world class height and design into the downtown area!

Westisbest for a little over 4 years now there have been multiple designs, architects, renders. So far what we all hear is that this is the official rendering. It's pretty much all we've been getting for over year.

No dude don't start that cry baby crap. We all pretty much know you are not down with it but you and I have been here long enough to know what that is going to result in and since the goal of this thread is to keep it informative and not turn into a cat fight it's probably best to keep the objection to a minimum. This is a sensitve subject and project for alot of us. . Make your own thread if you want to but don't start trashing this one all over again. It's like the second time they've had to shut the wtc thread down because of that bullshit.

Hey, we need more vets in here what can i say. I got my fingers crossed but the development can often be a huge disappointment in ny. This project is dare I say in the earliest phase of it's construction and there have been delays and yes it is going pretty slow and you know what? For more reasons than I would like to count there are many obstacles developers have to get through to build what they want how they want it. Once this thing picks up like most approved towers in New York it will shoot up quickly.

So far so good. I haven't heard otherwise.

this thread is only for discussion about the new world trade center, not the twin towers, new york city in general or any other city.

So does anyone know at the moment how the body recovery and construction coincide at the site?

I agree.

However, the tower itself is a nice design and the area will look good if the other talls are built around it.

Has piling started? When will FT start to rise?

Are they going to build all of those buildings shown in the renderings? I like that slide-top building. The view from the upper floors must be unusual. I belive you can see some of the lower floors from the highest one(s)?

so far, from what we hear yes. It is always questionable. The situation as far as I know at the site is still majority of digging the foundation. Personally I can do without the ring ontop but it is what it is. If they could cut the spire crap out and build the roof to 1776' that would be tremendous but unlikely.
Completion is scheduled for 11' the other buildings are still proposals but i bet to keep in mind the situation of the site developers will push for port authority approval. It can't hurt to have sheldon silver behind this one. I hate that guy but I guess while he is around if anything at all gets built to full heights it will be on his turf which is Lower Manhattan.
