I love FT and all its buddies, and it's great to see the worlds greatest highrise city jumping on to the world skyscraper boom. I still find it bizarre that before 9/11 there was not much skyscraper construction, and people said that 9/11 would kill it off for a while. How wrong they were. The world has never see so much activity, US, Europe, South America, Middle East and Asia all going skyscraper mad. I'm in heaven.

I Think I shall start up an orginisation to help overworked architects.

Those look uglier than the original Twin Towers.

Time to more forward, not back.

FT bores the pants off me. The other buildings look great.

Trump is trying to take over the NY planning department... The new twin towers looked shockingly poor...

As much as I want the Twin Towers to be rebuilt, I think we should move forward, not backward as well.

But the term "Twin Towers" is a term created in New York, so why not continue that and add another tower?

I would not count on that, and Pataki is only saying this on the fact that he can get something done before he leaves office, otherwise another photo-op.

I so confused about this tower. Ive read many sources saying that the tower will be above street level in 2007, topping out in 2009 and completed in 2010. But other people are saying that it wont be above street level until 2008 and completed by 2011. Which one is true? Can someone give me the exact date this tower is supposed to be above ground, and when its supposed to be completed

I think what is meant by steel rising above street level in 2008 is that the building will start climbing. The initial steel will be above street level, but it wont be a year before steel will rise from the initial steel. Confusing ain't it? lol.

steel above street level in 2008, completion not before 2011 (if not 2012), around the same time as WTC 3 and WTC 4.

for a more nuanced discussion of why that is go to wired new york.

There was never a definite timetable for this, b/c it was pretty much impossible to find tennants to work there.
