This is a big one for Kyiv
In a very prestigious district of Kyiv, there's a hideous 30-40 year old commieblock that is falling apart. The city administration launched a contest to select the best architectural solution.
Here they are! ![]() I'm going for the modern-neogothic design with the clock

^ Oh I love the shape/design of the modern-neogothic submission, with the clock - but I *LOVE* the reflective properties of the glass in the hideous brown one. I think they should combine the two. Maybe a soft blue glass with the neogothic design, something to give a great reflection because that part of the city looks gorgeous and I *love* reflections that show old buildings, that contrast is gorgeous.

well I'm really divided here. I like both the first and the second one.
Well either one, I think it's good, nice to see reconstruction, but what does it look like now?

It's just a white typical commieblock with a pharmacy and small soviet apartments in it.

Hmm, I like the office complex (project #1) but I'm not sure about the towers...

The first one is probably the best. The second would be alright if they took that pile of crap off the roof. And the last isn't all that bad.

I'm a fan of neogothic style but even if I wasn't, I must say that if the first one gets built - it's likely to become one of those attractions in Kyiv that tourists will always take a picture of standing in front of it

I think I also like the last one. It's just really nice and sleek. However, the first proposal is still my fave
I dont really like the 2nd or 3rd ones at all though.

Considering the location, I'm sure it will be an important building for the capital in general. Not just "any" office building.
The clock is to show time you know like Big Ben? This place is in walking distance of 10 minutes from Independence Square.

I like the idea of the clocktower, and the overall design, but that design of the top reminds me too much of the prefabricated churchtowers (like these) pasted on any random building in the USA that wants to call itself a church.
It seems to me a location like that deserves a more unique treatment of a signature tower. |
