my mistake, the one which is underconstruction now is MGM Grand Macau, and the plan for second and third one are 'Mirage Macau' and 'Bellagio Macau'

I believe Macau has more high-rise than Monaco, but the population of Monaco is a lot less compare to Macau.

Wonderful flower skyscraper!
It seems Macau will like a little brother to Hong Kong and the or Las Vegas of Asia in the future!

I wonder if Macau is getting any big-name shows or attracting any international celebrities to perform?

I'm talking about Broadway productions such as Phantom of the Opera, shows such as Cirque du Soleil, and celebrities such as Celine Dion's performances at Caesars Palace...

First I wonder if that type of entertainment will translate well to Macau. Those from Macau... do you know? Macau seems to be more hardcore gambling than an entertainment destination. I thought I read that one of the American casinos is going to bring a new Cirque du Soleil show for Macau. As for big name performers... for short runs... most likely. I don't see many of them that will want to stay there for like a year or more like you see in Vegas. I think Macau will have to transform more into a globally desired entertainment destination than the regional gambling den it is now before you see anything like that happen. Personally I don't gamble but I would love to visit Macau. But certainly for me I'd like to see things there more than gambling in order for me to make a return trip. So I certainly hope Macau becomes a grand global destination.

Macau actually has a large stock of historic buildings from its colonial days. In fact, the centre of Macau is labelled a World Heritage Site.

When I visited Macau last September I noticed that there is a lack of public transportation between the islands, especially now that resorts are also being build on Taipa. Are there any plans to connect Macau with Taipa and Coloane with a light rail or a subway in the future?

I think there may be some early plans. When I was there, students were running around surveying public opinion on the traffic situation and possible mass transit implementations.

Funny you think performer don't want to stay in Macau, if Cirque du Soleil performers making same salary in L.V. and Macau, they will see more money been save in Macau since it is chaper to live. Macau is low on crime and cost less to live, it is next to Hong Kong they will find all the name brand store, banking and accounting service... It also like 5 mins to China and not far from Thailand's some top vacation destination...if Celine willing to move to Vegas from Canada, why they won't move to a less hell hot weather place like Macau.

btw. who want to buy me ticket to see Celine!!

There are plenty of hotel shuttles that connect to the main ferry terminal. For the Taipa ones such as the Venetian and the Crown, they're a bit out of the way though.

I was talking big name performers like you see in Vegas. Besides they wouldn't care about the cost of living since most of them will have everything paid for them when they stay there. Besides how big of a celebrity are they in China? They maybe big in the West but would gamblers in Macau go see Celine everyday for maybe a year? So how successful would they be there? These big name performers are use to getting paid tens of millions a year because they fill seats everyday. Macau will have to do more than be a gambling den for China and target what international torurists want if you're going to see the big names of the West staying there for long periods of time like in Vegas. For now the only big names entertaining in Macau for long term will be celebrities only known in Asia.

Steve Wynn has already experience a failure in transferring Western style entertainment to Macau. A big part of Vegas is the success of nightclubs. Steve Wynn had to close his after only a month because nobody went. These clubs are usually targeted for younger demographics. I don't see Macau gamblers interested in night-clubbing either. So does Macau target Chinese yuppies? Again, Macau is going to have to do a lot more than be just a gambling den if you want to see a more diverse customer base which means more diverse entertainment. Without it Macau is not going to get big name Westerners to perform there for long periods of time.

Your point taking, but most people who go watch Elton and Celine don't pay for the ticket, they play on the table for a long time and get the ticket for free, people want good show and rewal after playing on the table for a long time, the bottom line the ticket is free for high-roller, that's why the show is sold out every night. As nightclub go, even those at the Vegas don't do very well, it is mainly a place for high-roller who already see all the show and ate everything (dame you high-roller!), for me... I sure won't pay $50 just to get in and pay $20 for a drink. As Macau can't compare with Vegas yet, but I will compare with Vegas 15 years ago (when just start bomming and Mirage just open) all Mirage got was just a huge buffet, a huge swimming pool, one gay show and a white tiger, and people already saying "WOW! WOW! WOW!!!". I will say compare to that Macau already doing much better....I miss those good'O-time of Vegas, comp. free buffet is much easy to get that today, today I need to sit on that dame chair for five hours before they give me a free f*cking $20 buffet....O-well it is another story
