Id prefer a simple box. they always look taller too. But this would be good for Miami, because there skyline is already very boxy. This will add a curve to skyline.

Great Job, VisionMIA! I love it. They should construct more skyscrapers like that in Miami. Definitely a great city to live!

Is there any concrete schedule on this tower - when they supposed to start? Ans any news on Empire towers as well?

They aren't looking at getting started on this tower until closer to 2010 or 2011. They still own and operate an office tower that currently sits on the site and probably have to wait for leases to expire and stuff like that.

Keep us informed

Hey, Miami people! Keep us informed on how this project is advancing, ok?

It's actually been approved for months now. The city of Miami approved it a while ago; the mods must have just realized it needed to be updated. Needless to say, Miami is extremely anxious for this one to rise up!

Given that Florida is ground-zero for the real-estate bubble-bust and that credit for such projects is almost non-existent, I would like to suggest that these Miami threads be closed for now.

Agreed...I've been wondering how the bubble burst would affect development of Commercial skyscrapers since the main area that has been hurt by this credit crisis is residential. Does anyone think it's possible that it could actually help office construction? If there's all these deals on residential real estate, wouldn't that promote an influx of new residents that would possibly lure new businesses to the area?

Agreed that the condo glut would help office construction rather than hurt it since the main thing that was holding the downtown area back was the lack of affordable housing (now solved). The one thing that might hurt it though was that this development was late in the pipeline. 4 large office towers have broken ground in the last few months. Right now occupancy levels in office towers are at all times highs in downtown (about 95% for class "A") so new towers are desperately needed, the question is will the demand still be there after the 4 new towers (Brickell Financial Center, 1450 Brickell, Met2, & Logik) go up before this one even breaks ground. BTW another 900+ foot tall office tower (Brickell Financial Center II) is set to rise before this one gets out of the ground too.

Considering that Washington, DC hasn't had a skyscraper since the Washington Monument, I would like to suggest that all Washington threads be shut down.
