Wondering...

Pontian4life welcome to the forum indeed, I am new here also so... You said we say 'Selanik' in our weather forecasts and stuff, but it is a Turkish forecast on a Turkish TV. To be more blunt, if I were speaking with you I wouldn't call Greece Yunanistan, although we had that land for centuries... I am not trying to be hostile but your reasoning really doesn't make any sense. See I am from Trabzon too and if you really meant it I think you would call Trabzon 'Trebizond' which is the 'Greek' name of the city. Then you would be calling Ankara Ancyra and the list could go on...

Trabzon.

Kesinlikle dogru soyluyorsun. Ben sadece meraktan sordum zaten sen Istanbul'a Constantinople deyince, Trabzon'a Turkce ismiyle hitab etmen garip gelmisti. Bende Trabzonluyum bu arada. Hemsehriyiz yani!

I don't think it should be a problem for people to call cities by different names. After all languages are different.

Pontian, where do you live, if you don't mind me asking?
Yes from: Eis tin polis, for me its also not a problem. I live in Germany, my parents are Pontians from Istanbul, but we originate from Trapezounta.

OK, that's interesting. So I take it you speak four languages at least, Greek, Turkish, German and English. Impressive, bravo!!!

Nice thread BTW

Yes many Europeans underrated and underestimate Istanbul. They dont know
how beautiful Istanbul real is.They think it is a middle-age city.
