The building has not quite started yet

[QUOTE=oliver999;16102190]this building started in OCT,2007!!!!
QUOTE]

There are many myths and hype flying around about this building so it is important to set the record straight.

They have started construction of the Shimao Wonderland (Shimao Wonderland is the name of the whole development in the Songjiang area that includes a theme park, residential units and another 3 star hotel)... that is what the gorund breaking ceremony was for.The 1st stage of the construction will be the infrastructure for the land in which the hotel and other parts of the development will be located.

The hotel itself is still being designed.There is still detailed design/construction information to be produced but the target is to complete the building before end 2010.

The intention is to have underwater rooms in the 2 lowest levels both guest rooms of the hotel and the public areas including a restaurant.

Thanks for your interest

photos taken on 23/4/2008

The project will start at the end of 2008? ?

All water will be pumped out before getting started.

30-metre deep water now remains only 5-metre depth.

I thought this project would be located in some existing waterfall or something whereas they would simply integrate the man-made structure into it. They'd start from scratch I see.

I;m pretty sure they're not using that site above... Plus all the renders are detailed around that other original site which is already a lake..

What a stupid comment, the building is designed around the location, not the other way around. Without the quarry this would just be a hotel, rather than a hotel in a quarry. The only thing unusual and special about this is the quarry.
