It has been reported that the building has reached already the 82nd floor and one of the Enginers for ARABTEC has said that the completion date has been postoponed by at least 3 months, due to the redesign and height increases.

EMAAR had invited yesterday a group of journalist to tour the building and they had gone on top of it. Hopefully we'll see some of their pictures published soon.

Don't forget that the 31/12/2008 completition date was for the 705 meter version.

Maybe the Burj Dubai Tread should go to 1,000 Post each time. BD Part 20 only lasted 2 weeks.

For me, it may even be 2010, i just hope that it will be something, that nobody can forget (like Eiffel Tower) Everybody must know it. I really hope that it will be somewhere around 750m (or 800+), but at least 750m.
Why? Because it will stand alone from the rest (rest: +-500m - 600m).

I just hope, that 1 day in my life, i will have the opportunity to go and visit Dubai... (especially the Burj Dubai) (and visiting Imre Offcourse...)

Apparently the maximum number of posts per thread is a closely guarded secret. Some say it's 808, other say is less, around 700. Rival websites are rumoured to go much higher.

what i think is that BD has started a new skyscraper era: the megatalls on the race to not only reach to the sky, but "to surpass it"..! And that means BD might not hold the title for so long, new projects are about to come , thats my perception... according to the evolution of the skyscraper since the nineteenth century.....

Well, there are already a few competing proposals. That 1km tower in Kuwait is a serious one, then there's al burj that could also be 1km and Nakheel are definitely crazy enough to build it. Also some of the proposals for that tower in Shanghai go up to 700m and we know this 3rd supertall will eventually go up there so it's getting close

This is the most attractive project in the world for us skyscraper fans, so its pretty much expected! We need the best updates and we need them several times every week! This thread will reach 500 posts in two weeks, and the activity in these threads will more than likely increase then decrease, so it would be good if these threads could grow up to 1000 posts. If they don't we will soon have Part 200!

Hi all.
I may have found an answer to the size debate but my photoshop skills are lacking. Judging by the guys in the first 2 shots and the 80 by 160 in the third shot I think MEVA's forms are 80 by 160 centimeters.

They appear to use this standard size where possible ( I have lots more showing this also ... )

Now this is where we need some photoshop skills. Here is the form layout plan for levels 35 to 37. So this is after the first setback on all 3 wings. We can make out the 80 by 160 shapes but not well enough to get a good measure.

Perhaps together we can get this size thing figured. I'm sure with some photoshop action we can count the forms acurately. Then with some infering we can get the size of the slab or any other level.

Did I say I love this structure ... The structure of a lifetime !

I would love to see Dubai in 50 or even 100 years.

I used to work for a large electrical design and install contracting company in Australia and they were goinig to put a tender in for this job or for part of it. That was happening when I resigned. I wonder if they won any part.

I saw some rather imposible project like Mega skyscraper 1000m tall in Tokyo (100.000 citizens) , or 1000m high tower with structure like tree ( dunno remebmer what was the point)...
anyway we will wait.
actualy 10 years ago I probably would thougs the same about BD

Movilla, this is the funniest post I've read all year. Finally, someone who appreciates skyscrapers AND has a sense of humor.

I guess there is no permit or land survey government office in Dubai that is open to the public. If this building were in the United States, you could just look at the survey filed at the local government level to know the building's exact footprint size.

You could also use trigonometry and some basic survey techniques to measure the building without actually getting close to it.
