I can't see the cladding going up any quicker with the spider crane, looks like it's a really delicate operation.

Interesting to see that they have started a new level of cladding several floors above the existing window line. Will certainly speed the process up if there are two levels being installed together.

Looks like shorter panels. I wonder if they are waiting on some of the larger ones?

Excellent news .
I thought I heard that they will do cladding at the top with the cladding at the bottom.
Mace has made full use of the triple height floors.
Shorter panels means the floor heights of my diagram are wrong, need not to worry my diagram time-lapse work has made it to December 2010.
I am replacing the diagram files of the old time-lapse (the one on youtube), with ones that do not have these huge mistakes in.
The final diagram time-lapse will have TC3(?) and more detail with screens and other areas.
Estimated completion early Summer holidays.

I know my diagram is completly wrong, but I was trying to get the floor heights accurate to the new cladding.

Thanks Concrete

That picture reminds me of one I took this weekend...... just a snapshot I'm afraid but although the whole building needs a good clean once construction is complete, I think these views shows how the cladding does indeed 'disappear' into the sky as hoped for.

FAQ: The red things on The Shard are the blind boxes. The blinds themselves are grey.

The Shard's observation deck opens in Feb 2013: http://the-shard.com/the-view-from-the-shard

Yes the top is finished and will remain open to the elements. The exterior is (pretty much) complete.

I'm totally confused by that brick wall. Why have that right by a drop off zone? Or is the intention long term thinking that the road will eventually be pedestrianised and built over?

The new glazing on level 76 is flying up, I knew it would.

If only cybertect could get a close up of it .

Not sure about the street level interaction with that brick wall. Does it work better in person?

I may be alone here, but there is something quite Japanese about this shot (and that's no reflection on the girl in the foreground, even assuming she's Asian).

I can just picture a Shinkansen whisking through, towards some great dense and sprawling Japanese city.

Our concrete fan has done well!

I can't, what with the lack of OHLE among other things.

Not really IMO. When you take a step back it's hardly noticable in comparison to the Shard's height. It also serves to integate the building into the environment. The brick almost looks like a continuation of the railway viaduct.

The level of detail that has been put into the brick work is of the level we have come to expect throughout the building. An unusual bond has been used between the courses - pretty sure Cyber had a good shot of it not too long ago.

In short, I like.
