We should be allowed to take pictures-we have been doing so for years.

If he stops you or anyone else cybertect-Just say by the orders by The Shard Baby to annoy him.

All the other marshals allow us.
Think of all the tourists who visit London-You can't stop them.

exactly - if you are on public land / pavements etc just ignore them, some Shard security guard tried to stop me taking pics once - I just acted as though he wasn't there.

The tower will be inaugurated by HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.

The State of Qatar is a majority investor (95 per cent) in the Shard. The delegation also included Ali Shareef Al Emadi, QNB Group Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of the Shard Funding Limited. Towering over the South Bank of the Thames, The Shard is the tallest building in Western Europe at 310m (1,016 ft) and will consist of the capital's highest public viewing gallery offering 360° views of the City of London.

The inauguration date coincides with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations and is just a few weeks prior to the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics that will be held in London during this summer. Al Emadi said, "This towering endeavor embodies our vision to create an alternative investment to oil. And today, I'm proud to say that we are at the final stages of inaugurating The Shard, London's newest iconic landmark.

London Bridge Quarter will comprise two major buildings, The Shard and The Place, which is an office building. The multi-use vertical city features high quality offices, the 5-star Shangri-La hotel with more than 200 rooms and suites that is due to open by November 2012 and 3 floors of signature restaurants. The Place is a ground-breaking new business destination that makes a strong and compelling corporate statement in London's newest commercial quarter. London Bridge Quarter also includes the Shard Plaza, a new public space, new station concourse and bus station, which will be fully completed by the end of the first quarter 2013.

Designed by leading international architect, Renzo Piano, a piazza will link the two buildings with London Bridge Station transforming the area and making London Bridge Quarter the centre of a rejuvenated South Bank.

The Qatari investment consortium includes three banks, QInvest, Qatar National Bank (QNB), Qatar Islamic Bank, as well as the developer Barwa Real Estate, with backing from Qatari Diar Real Estate Company, established in 2005 by the Qatar Investment Authority, the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar.

The guy that spoke to me was attempting to be reasonable and like I said, we kept it civil - I've met a lot worse in my time.

I'd no problem with him on that level, just some aspects of his training and perhaps some misguided or misinterpreted instructions.
