Is it pure coincidence that a mans Scrotum resembles a brain - requisite with both hemispheres, and its truncated spinal cord - always in search of sensation?

London Bridge's £650m job tender 'this year'

Talks have started with steel contractors for the three other main Thameslink jobs at Blackfriars, Farringdon and Borough Viaduct, due to start in March.
Is that saying that talks about this are due to start in March, or that the actual work at Blackfriars, Farringdon and Borough Viaduct is starting in March?

Im sure it means work on Blackfriars, Farringdon & Bourough will be starting in March. These along with the new viaduct should be built by 2011/12 but due to the massive amount of work happening around here (including a rather tall tower-called the Shard ) work on the actual new station is supposed to start around 2012-2015.

You can see on this pic the new platforms that need to be built before the station redevelopment. LBT is a really tight site as you can see.

Theres going to be quite a lot of construction happening around London Bridge for quite a few years to come. Not forgetting the New London Bridge house development and potentially the large three houses scheme and you could be looking at solid construction works for the next 6-8 years

Where did you find this image LondonLad?
I've never seen it before. It gives a much clearer picture of the amount of work needed to reconfigure the station.
I confirm what you said about the start of the works on the other Thameslink Station in Central London.

They will have to wait for the Shard to be externally complete, before they can start work on the new station.
I think it would be impossible to do both at the same time and keep the station and bus station open.
Also the bus station will be moved as part of the LBQ development, so will free up the space to build the new station

I noticed that earlier lol. I wouldn't be suprised if they work today being as they are desperate to clear the site.
But I seriously doubt they are on site today.

hi there, I havent been up to date with this shard forum for a while now.
I take it that its pretty doubtful this will be ready for 2011? sorry if its recently been said but i havent been back reading for a while.

In terms of completion dates does it look like the order of completion will be the heron tower, shard and then the pinnacle? Hoping by 2012?

Hate to say it but I think just over 2 years for it to be externally complete seems slightly ambitious tbh, considering piling hasn't even fully started yet.. would be great if I'm proven wrong tho

Why was the hotel built in a way that totally disregarded the axis of the station?

^ Which was built first? What shape was the road? How accurate is this render?

With the slippage in the schedules already, I would assume the goal now is to be externally complete by the time of the Olympics, so 1st or 2nd quarter of 2012. It may be that parts of the interior may also be ready in time for the olympics, such as the hotel, but it would not surprise me if the offices and appartments are not ready till towards the end of 2012 or early 2013.

It would be great though if all could be ready earlier - but I recall construction was originally forecast to take four years, thus even mid 2012 is likely an accelerated schedule.

The picture of the strata tower from miles away just made me think of all the wild places that we will be able to see this in London... It's gonna pop up all over the place!
