Not that impressive when you take into account that about 100,000 must be by me alone
![]() Anyone know the answer to my earlier question by the way?

Yes. Its also fascinating that Bish has received precisely 50% the number of views and replies as the Shard for months and months now! How strange, eh?

...there's no webcams, so until someone posts picture updates, there's not much to talk about. In a way we've been spoilt for cam choices and pictures with the Shard. Probably no other building again will get so much interest.

Wow look at the steel progress. I’m amazed how much they’ve done in the last couple of days. Thanks for the night shot Edvvc

Only just realised that using a small aperture makes it focus much better in low light. Looking forward to getting some night shots with low cloud...

I take it you use a tripod? I’ve never taken a night shot of urban areas before but if I did I’d use the Tv : Action Shots mode. Playing around with the Sutter speeds and Exposure levels works, find what works best. Look forward to seeing more of your good work.

Great shot there which really shows how much of the floor area is taken up by the core at that height of the building (left side) although that is a cut off corner.

A smaller aperture will also tend to create the 'star' effect on lights. The number of points is double the number of aperture diaphragm blades in the lens if it's an odd number - so a lens with five blades will create a 10 point star. With an even number of blades, you get that number of star points. Your earlier pic suggests your camera probably has six blades in its iris (was that taken with the LX5?) [/OT camera talk]

Yes, the night shot was taken with the LX5 on a tiny tripod, with full intelligent zoom and the in-camera jpeg engine. F8/13s exposure/iso80. Cropped and uploaded in photogene which sadly stripped off the exif metadata.

More fab pics, edvvc and Anthony - particularly like the "head in the clouds" shots. It'll look particularly beautiful in those kind of conditions once it's finished.
One thing I was thinking the other day: just how much space will there be on the viewing platforms? I know the core will be thinner by the time it reaches that height but the framework will also be much narrower too. |
