I can't see how that is possible with these glass panels, and it's a pyramid obviously so that might make it harder, also no balconies on render.
Personally i think they would look ugly on the shard anyway. It looks beautiful and elegent like the renders and what we have so far show us

Couple of phone images from Apple Fair at Borough Market today:

through a veil of rain ...

behind the Crossbones graveyard which seems to be spawning a cult around its mythology ...

Yes I think so...its the in thing at the moment. St Giles has them too. Just as well seeing as our winters are starting to buck the trend of Global Warming!!!

Oh nice construction pictures
how beautiful is the building now in the skyline If i could choose I would stop constructing now and keep it like it is now, with the cranes on it

Anyway, quite a nice design! Have to go back to london when its finished!

Superb photographic update! I can only see the top from where I live near Sydenham Rise due to a carbuncle of a block overlooking Dulwich in the way. I am missing the webcams, more than is healthy. So your photo contributions are extremely welcome.
I can't quite get my head round the fact there is nearly a third of Shard still to go. The reflectivity of the cladding is so beautiful, I can't believe it's real!

Infact,62% height now,so more than a third to go would you believe And the cladding is indeed so beautiful and perfect for a sleek pyramid as LBT is.It makes it look like a magical temple of the future.

This is turning out better than the renders!
Today I updated my model of The Shard. It will be updated on Google Earth soon.

here are a few preview Pictures imported into offline Google Earth.
I tried my best to make the textures more precise, added crane textures, and some other stuff. If you want to download it on Sketchup just search "Supertall Robbo"

It will be on Google Earth by tommorow. THanks

That is a very good point, but not the only one.

The blinds are there to stop heat gain, if they were inside the building by the time they stop the light the heat would be already inside. That is why they are behind the first pane of glass and in front the other two panes. These things are by no means cheap, but they cover their cost with the savings in cooling that they afford.

For those that do not like horizontal lines I am sorry but it is impossible to manufacture a pane of glass 300 metres high. If it were possible it would be impossible to transport it and furthermore still it would have to be fixed somewhere at some intervals or it would shatter with the tremendous wind loads that surface would have to resists. And anyway, a high rise needs to have floors and glass is transparent so you would see those horizontal lines anyway.
