Gamlestan

A few days ago GT wrote an article about the urbanisation of Gamelstan.

http://gt.expressen.se/nyheter/1.259...n-ett-nytt-liv

The new commuter station and tram station forms a new Resecentrum (commuter nod). This will eventually be expanded with yet another commuter station on the Alingsås commuter line, replacing today's Sävenäs station. In the past this station has been planned as an underground station like Liseberg station, but it seams to lean towards a regular station parallel to the highway instead.

400-500 apartments to be build adjacent to the new Resecentrum.

SKF's old factory Nya Kulan (image below) will be renovated and turned into a shopping mall and 600 new apartments.

Wow, there are actually 2 stations named Säve in Göteborg in opposite sides of town, how confusing isn't that?

Wow! That view resembles another view I've seen.

Yeah, Great Northern Warehouse in Manchester.

Beautiful. As long as the architect doesn’t come up with one of those brilliant ideas of putting a concrete box on top of it to give it a ”modern touch” will it turn out perfect. I sound like an old grumpy man but what does it say about today’s situation when old factories outsmart modern residential houses in character and beauty.

No, you don't. You're the one who's modern.

Nothing really considering that most of these factories were posher than your average 19th century apartment building too.

Yes, I think so because Ola Serneke, the guy behind it even has his own playmate!

By the way. Here is an article in GP about this project from October 2010.

I don't think someone's marital status is of value to a construction project's fate... The biggest if is probably getting the municipality to agree building over those precious parking lots...

GP writes about Östra Partille and the new 4,000 seated handball arena (the yellow-greenish box with a pedestrian bridge next to it in the image bellow)

http://www.gp.se/sport/1.752244-mang...rd-for-savehof

Being a sports facility fan, a 4,000 seated multi venue is a bit disappointing. There are some great small size (non hockey, basketball/hanball only) arenas out there, but 4,000 is on the low end.

Palladium finally comes to life again, unfortunately the building wont feature Sweden's best cinema but luxury clothing stores instead.

You have a point there. Something tells me that Anneli Hulthen will not be as impressed as I am.

Really intresting. To me it sounds incredible likely that the production will start within a year.

This was the protokol from the meeting in march.

"Utdrag ur protokoll
Sammanträdesdatum
2011-03-08

2011-000165

If you are intrested in the drawings. Send me a pm and email and I will send it to you.

The height of the different buildings are:

From the drawings I can tell that

Tower 1 (existing) = 75 meters
Tower 2 = 80 meters
Tower 3 = 96,5 meters (RECORD)
Construction of the third highest of the towers started today!

Quote:
