Great to see so much machinery cracking on with the job. Can't wait for the cranes to be erected!

The Origin site, Manchester..

Wow, those two pics show how quick the likes of the landmark towers flew up. I imagine that it could be another year before we get any pouring of concrete?

It will be quicker than that. Much quicker. The walls are finished, much of the piling has been done and the site has been cleared for excavation, which is progressing well. I reckon we'll see a foundation raft poured quite soon.

I'm guessing there was a hell of a lot of work sorting out the riverfront there so that the whole thing wouldnt fall to pieces and slide into the river once built.

Might be further back in the thread... but does anyone know the timetable for the basement completion and superstructure... obviously with JPM giving the go ahead for full construction.

I don't think we'll see anything rise until this time next year unfortunately. I remember reading the basements are quite deep.

Wow, last pic is just great. This project is the best, biggest of all London towers going up. Working on Marshwall, I never give time to have a walk past and see progress so its great have this forum.

THANKS

Why do you think that? Most of the work has been done. I think this will surprise people.

They have barely begun, all you see in the picture is simply the re-enforcement walls to stop the towers sliding into the river when built.

Basement construction wont start until Spring 09. They will take nearly a year.

Of course 1 tower could start to rise whilst the basement for tower 2 is finished.

So, this time next year we could well start to see something above ground...but not much.

the presence of the piling machines at least indicates that permanent foundations are going in for the footings of the tower. Its certainly looks like more of an organised construction site that it has for most of the year.
