Glad to see this project underway. I remember first reading about it (as I'm sure many of us did) about 5-6 years ago. Renders give a very high-tech eco-friendly look about it all. BTW Sooo much better than the Rogers' scraper proposed for Sydney which looks like one of his works from the 80s.

Thanks for the update wj!

Pelli chose the pyramid for the crown because it was a shape/symbol that all cultures could relate to.

are they still only digging the hole or have piles for the buildings themselves been started on yet?

It is still technically U/C. Even the Shard is now U/C, and piling's only just started.

haha looking at the situation on site at the mo, makes this post seem rather comical....apparently its some 70-80ft deep now.

I don't think these pictures convey the sheer size of this excavation - it's immense.

Well worth a visit.

Mhm, not really sure if I like it. Design is ok, height is good but somehow it doesn't fit in CW for me but I'll w8 till it's finished to give any comment.
Anyway, it's good they are at least building some stuff in london .

One point to note: all the renders posted here show the towers thin-edge-on or at a slight angle. There's nothing that really gives an indication of their depth. They may be slender when seen from the front but appear somewhat slab-like when viewed side-on.

I see what you mean but there ARE some renders which give the idea of how the side will be:

I think this will exceed Canada Square in height. CS=218M.
