No, it isn't. The core is the main structure and it must be built first (concrete gets its max strength after 28 days & after the pouring we have to wait for about 1 week) then we can continue constructing the upper structure & also the outer columns. And as u can see the cranes stand on the core (as the main structure).

thats a really cool bridge, this and stonecutters are really amazing, im not trying to hail calatrava but ever since his bridge designs began being built it seems that bridge architecture and engineering have advanced and we're getting these really exciting new bridges, back to the topic.

The extra height is making it look slimmer and much more interesting. It will be 450 m to the roof with another 150 m spire on top, so it's appearance will improve a lot more IMO. See how that crane is sitting on a small platform attached high up on the side of the core!

I hope they paint it the gray/black that it is painted in the render then it will look awesome but if they leave it white i'm not sure.
