Missed connectors like that are so frustrating. At least it's in the plans for the future and something that can be fixed.
I wonder how long it would take for passenger numbers to pick up for the eastern end of the Green line when that connector is built.

The Green Line goes into an underground depot at the end of the line, they could well make a tunnel to surface out at Imperial Hwy., and go from there at grade.

Yes, it is - because it doesn't go through a neighborhood full of angry Persian NIMBYs (i.e. Beverly Hills).

First time I see the Santa Monica terminus, holy macro! I like what they did here.

I think this is the concept.

Imperial Highway would be a perfect via to extend the Green Line east, but that's scratching the LA County/Orange County line...so it has to veer either north or south. Which way do you guys think would be better?

The county border is still blocks away right?
I'd say turn north and head for the Metrolink line going thru Pomona so a transfer station with that line would be possible in the further future. Turn it even more from a hub-and-spokes system to a network

Are they going to install turnstiles at the Santa Monica station as they have been with other stations recently?

Give them time. Envy will show them the error of their ways.

Hopefully at some point businesses, like major retail or office developers will demand some high priority PT connection for new real estate projects in greater LA, at least in its more central parts. If we will ever see this situation, this Nimbyism of Beverly Hills and Co will become a serious competitive disadvantage. Maybe then people will wake up.

On the station drawings (on their website) there are no turnstiles. They do have figured out where to put them if they're going to though.

This is in front of USC, and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and Museums.

The suburban rail in Los Angeles acts more like light-rail-on-steroids.

No wonder you find them to be LRT-like since those are the LRT lines, not the commuter train lines.

It's not suburban rail (eventhough LA basically is one big suburb), it's LRT covering subway distances. The only reason these LRT lines aren't full subway lines is money. Metro Rail and Caltrain serve suburban routes.

Found this fantasy proposal map in the subreddit MapPorn. Might be interesting.

Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comm...map_5000x5000/

You can ride from Disneyland to Six Flags Magic Mountain on the green line with this proposal, which might ease non motoring tourists.

This map is making me feel some feelings. Very impressive work, but a couple of eyebrow-raising decisions. Winding the Sepulveda line through Brentwood and Santa Monica instead of a direct shot to LAX is a head-scratcher. I also really like a couple of the branching lines, but I don't really get splitting the Blue to Burbank instead of extending the Orange to DTLA. And if you're going to branch, why have a separate Ventura Blvd line instead of doing one Red Line branch down Ventura, and another to BUR.

I also wish it distinguished between HRT and LRT, because it's not entirely clear in some places, and there are a couple spots where there appear to be HRT and LRT lines inter-lining.

I think this is more of a total blue sky proposal than, say, Nick Andert's "Metro 2040" map, which incorporates existing ROWs and lines already under consideration in Metro's Long Range Plan. Something that incorporated the best of this more far-reaching proposal with Andert's more grounded approach would be great.

A very reasoned critique, Marshall I concur
