I don't know how that could be with the amount of glass Allure has. What really looks like a prison to me is the NY Times tower. I don't know what the finished product will look like though. Does this not look like a prison or what?

Okay, forget the prison analogue. It looks like shit nonetheless. It's horrendous. Much like NYT Tower.

How much of an impact will this have on the skyline from different vantage points. If they all look like this...well, LSE will start looking pretty good.

^maybe the solution to the drab architecture is masking it in WHITE instead of beige, it would make it seem less imposing and heavy,... seems to work in Miami.

Spy, have you seen the rendering in the first post of this thread? Btw, in case people didn't know, I've made sure that every major project thread has renderings in the first post.

It's actually a great temporary solution - problem is, a white building becomes filthy very quickly and ends up looking like beige anyway (or worse).

The parking garage at the bottom of the tower makes the building look good!

Hey, chill. That rendering is done from the perspective of the train tracks at the south side of the project site. The idea is that the lot on the other side of the tracks will also get developed in a similar fashion, and nobody will ever judge this side of the building. Virtually every other new building in that area has addressed the railroad tracks in the same way.

"Allure"? Isn't that the name of a cheap perfume? (Okay, so it's actually an expensive perfume by Chanel. Whatever.) That parking garage sure respects the letter, but not the intent, of the "parking garage cloak" law, with those chintzy louvers.

White's hard to keep clean.

In any case, I'll be a bit saddened to see the view from the Desplaines viaduct go.

White with blue glass, that would look nice. The logic that white is harder to keep clean makes sense, but we do have a few white buildings in the city and they seem to look fine to me. Maybe I just didn't look close enough though. Would builders actually take this into account when choosing a color?
