ah, its very simple: they want to force drivers to PT so congestion is a good thing...

I read yesterday in the news: they want to create ARTIFICIAL JAMS in budapest by reducing the number of lanes on some arteries to force drivers to PT...

they are ******* crazy...

The pedestrian crossing in my city in Bulgaria are painted like this - red background and white stripes... Even the paint they are using is Dutch.

Ascension day madness around my city. I actually saw this accident a couple of hours ago on the left lane.

These green 60-signs are rare, and not legal. It's actually a treehugger sign, because it's purpose would be to slow people down without putting a legal speed limit.

This sign says Oldeberkoop is a "nuclear weapon-free municipality". Good to know!

That sign probably dates from the eighties, when the US wanted to put nuclear weapons in Western Europe. Time stood still in Oldeberkoop

N353 Havelte - Jubbega

Click on the title for the full set

The N353 is a secondary highway, a main provincial road in the provinces Drenthe and Friesland, northern Netherlands. It mainly serves towns and villages along the route, and is not of transit-value.

Route:

image hosted on flickr

2. Vmax=80.
image hosted on flickr

3. Welkom in Havelte.
image hosted on flickr

4. Binnen de kom.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

6. Hier begint de madness. Vmax=80.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

FOUT FOUT FOUT.
image hosted on flickr

9. Nog zo'n 60-stukje.
image hosted on flickr

10. Hunebedden!
image hosted on flickr

11. American truck.
image hosted on flickr

12. Alweer een 60-stukje.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

14. Recht en leeg.
image hosted on flickr

15. Wapserveen city.
image hosted on flickr

16. Wapserveen bestaat zelfs uit verschillende delen.
image hosted on flickr

17. Hier klopt de markering wel weer.
image hosted on flickr

18. Dit is rijden zoals het bedoeld is.
image hosted on flickr

19. Frederiks-
oord.
image hosted on flickr

20. Kruising met de N855.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

22. Mooie wegwijzer.
image hosted on flickr

23. De weg was afgesloten... Toch maar doorgereden.
image hosted on flickr

24. Vmax=80.
image hosted on flickr

25. Wilhelminaoord.
image hosted on flickr

26. Einde 60.
image hosted on flickr

27. Toen kon ik toch echt niet verder. We zijn hier dan ook in Friesland.
image hosted on flickr

28. Wegwijzer. Ik ging hier links.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

30. Ouderwetse RONA-markeringen! Good to be back in the 80's.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

32. Wegwijzer.
image hosted on flickr

33. Meer RONA.
image hosted on flickr

34. Landelijke omgeving.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

36. Let op: N353
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

38. Oldeberkoop.
image hosted on flickr

image hosted on flickr

40. Ik mis hier de saloon nog.
image hosted on flickr

41. Weer een mooi stukje rustige weg.
image hosted on flickr

42. Zone 60. We naderen het einde van de N353.
image hosted on flickr

Nice pics, Chris! I used to go on holiday in Doldersum, which is quite close. I see "Gorredijk" on the signs, btw

Are you allowed to overtake there? Or why middle line is double?

Actually, these pics are very interesting for traffic engineers, just because there's so much wrong with the road markings. They do that a lot in Drenthe...

Yes, you can overtake here. The message is that you should thank the authorities on your knees that you are allowed to pass here, but IT'S STILL VERY DANGEROUS!

Seriously, the anti-passing phobia has gotten ridiculous proportions here.

Timon may like this.

New signage on the A35 near Enschede. Tell me what you think of this.

There is a taper situation, like this.
image hosted on flickr

One exit lane becomes a double exit lane at the last moment (higher capacity).
