By the way, this sign, is a big error, A50 towards Zwolle should've been A28!

It's just the new signage perhaps.

I was looking at google-maps lately, and I noticed this:

http://maps.google.nl/maps?q=utrecht...05493&t=h&z=18

Why is the exit been prepared as a Dual carriageway, even though the exit direction is north, and not east west, as the unused road shows..

Is this part of a never constructed motorway, or ringroad??

This was part of the never-build A80 towards Vinkeveen and Hoofddorp.

Royal Haskoning and Paul Roncken have designed the 'road to the future'. A design for the new N239 in Oss.

Pictures and article (dutch) can be found here!

Nah, it's just some landscaping and viaduct design, but other than that, it's a 2x2 road like any other.

There was a truck with a breakdown a few kilometers downstream. If they opened this merge-immediately-lane, traffic would seriously become jammed because people had to stop to merge. This way, people are forced to use the 3 km merging lane, easing merging.

well chris its a bit more then that!
It is very blundly said just a upgrade from 1*1 tot 2*2

but.. the are going to put in some innovation :P

- dynamic roadmarking
- 0 emission road (Dunno how but never botter trying)
- Eco-pump (think electricity/natural gas/bio fuel)

Well i would have been just as happy if they just doubled the road.. but never mind.. it was necesary ..

Dynamic roadmarkings are not an innovation, they have been used already, for instance at interchange Ewijk (A50/A73) near Nijmegen.

About a zero-emission road; I don't know how they want to achieve that, because it's not the road, but the vehicles which produce emissions. An abandoned road is probably the best example of a zero emission road

77.000 inhabitants. Not exactly a smalltown, Timon.

Not small, but not really well known in the Netherlands. They do have a professional soccer team though

Another error! In the other direction, A50 towards Amersfoort should've been A28.
