Over here as well, but in a situation like this that's just not possible.

Buses don't run either.

This is what NS says:

AKA: Advice: Travelers are advised not to travel with the train.

In the end trains ran until 2:30 and almost everybody got home. Some people were brought home by taxi (arranged by the NS). One person had to stay overnight in a hotel

looking good chris. Big pack of snow in the North of the Netherlands. Its expected coming weekend another 20cm will be added to that pack.

If found some cool pictures on a different website from A1 near Apeldoorn from yesterday.

N381 winter landscapes

My first 2009 winter video. More will follow.

This one records a part of the N381 in the Drents-Friese Wold National Park at the border of Drenthe and Friesland provinces.

Better watch it in HD on Youtube

How slippy would those motorways be? I assume they grit or salt it which would do down to about -4 or -5.

I'm waiting for Ireland to get snow again, it'll just about shut the country down.

Salt doesn't work in 1) heavy snow, 2) with few traffic and 3) with very low temperatures. We had all of that tonight.

The right lane was very slippery, it was solid ice. I could feel the car slipping sometimes, even without steering left or right, so I drove mostly in the left lane that section.

A2 projects begin to shape up, the Den Bosch bypass reconstruction is almost done, the widening of A2 from Everdingen to Deil is advancing pretty quick and the 2x4 lanes got a green light, the A2 Eindhoven bypass is also in the final stages, with the express/local setup already partially in operation.

Another A2 project was the widening between Zaltbommel and Den Bosch. Some pics by koef:

The amount of salt on the road is a bit excessive though.

6 to 10 lanes all the way from Den Bosch to Amsterdam in one year:

Awesome pics. This guy knows how to handle a camera.

It's vacation, so I don't think it will be much worse than now (1.500 km of traffic jam).

That pic is the N31 I think. If you look at the distance marker, it's too close to the roadway, so there's no shoulder. Only the N31 in Friesland has no shoulder (it's not a motorway).
