What do you think: http://www.buienradar.nl/sneeuw.aspx

Where I love (BE) there's now cm, but I think the area around the axis Vlissingen - Bergen-Op-Zoom - Breda - Eindhoven in Holland has been hit quite badly (must be +10cm in a few hours).

I just did a small cycle trip to the A2 and back. Unfortunately I didn't get very good pictures, but I still hope you like it.

1. "Watch out, bad road surface!" What road surface?

2. Watch as my bike's front wheel finds it's way through the snow

3. River Holendrecht and the A2.

4. A wiiiiiiiiide sign.

5. On the other side, direction south.

6. The road next to the A2, looking north-west.

7. The A2 dike.

8. On the bridge. The A2 is pretty clean here, but there was some dirty snow pulp on the road. Traffic was going about 50/60 km/h.

9. Nice view

10. The southbound A2 once again.

The first two pictures are smaller because I forgot that Photobucket gives you 1024×768 pictures. They're not sharp anyway.

Why does that wiiide sign say "A2" so many times??? One A2 and an arrow for each lane would be better

Arrows will be added once there are lanes.

The provinces of South-Holland, Zealand and North-Brabant were all pretty badly hit. Some areas saw 20 centimeters of snowfall in just a few hours.

Because it doesn't make much sense to sign a Dutch number after the last exit, because there's no other way then to drive on the German number. This is quite new though, usually both the Dutch and German number are shown after the last exit.

Tonight we had some new snow, especially in the Randstad. Therefore there is a lot of trouble on the roads again, resulting in long traffic jams. Luckily it's not as bad as last week, at least most motorways seem to be driveble.

With summer tyres it must be very slippery to drive in these kind of weather conditions.

A74 Venlo

The A74 is a planned motorway that completes the missing link between the German A61 Autobahn and the Dutch motorway network. It is 1700 meters long, and is to be completed by 2012. One ecoduct is included in the construction.

Map from the preliminary record of decision:

How long have they been discussing this one? AFAIK also quite long. 2012 is very ambitious IMO. I'd think 2112 would be more plausible

No. Half of it is depressed though, to minimize it's impact on the surrounding area, including an ecoduct.

The area around Venlo is mostly sand soil, so it's much easier to depress a motorway here than say in the Randstad metro.
