Faster and more picturesque and less crowded

@Suburbanist:

A bypass between the eastern and western parts of road 31 will be constructed, the interchange with the A32 will look like this. Here's the preliminary record of design for the entire road, it has an older an less optimised version of the interchange though.

Wow that's big! I often underestimate the dimensions of the characters used on this kind of roadsigns (for motorways)

I agree, huge and shiny

About the green, were there ever discussions to implement green colour on motorways in NL as you mentioned? I've heard that about Belgium, some signs on ordinary routes leading to motorways are even green (when combined with E-sign)...

Hahah... that's an endless preference debate. I guess I prefer green signs because when I was a teenager I used to play SimCity too much and there the freeways always had green signs.

The preliminary record of decision for the A4 between Delft and Schiedam can be found here. For all you non-dutchies, the maps are here in a single pdf file.

I also played SC a lot - but I never liked the American-style motorways.

Nice, it's better than expected!
3 lanes northbound and a reservation for a 3rd lane southbound. But why is there no reservation for a 3rd lane southbound inside Knooppunt Kethelplein?
And no remarking of the existing A4 arund Delft to 2x3?

And are there also "Tracékaarten" for the other big projects started in the last weeks, like N31, A15, A50, A4 Steenbergen, A1-A6-A9-A10 ...?

There has been no release of documents concerning the N31 project near Leeuwarden so I guess we still have to wait a bit. Here are the project pages for the A4 Steenbergen, A15, A50 Ewijk-Valburg and, last but not least, Schiphol - Amsterdam - Almere (under 'D. Tekeningen, deel 1 through 57').

Chris already posted a sneak peek of the A1-A6-A9-A10/Schiphol - Amsterdam - Almere (SAA) widening but I guess some of the more web impaired around here deserve a couple of maps These are the completely rebuilt interchanges proposed in the SAA project...

Interchange Muiderberg (A1xA6):

Intechange Diemen (A1xA9):

NW Corner:

SW Corner:

NE Corner:

Interchange Hogering (A6xS101 Almere):

As was already stated by Chris, we're getting a 3+6+2+6+2 lane configuration (including merging and weaving lanes) between IC Diemen and the subsequent newly built Muiden diamond interchange. Note the yellow tidal lanes on the maps, during rush hour the busiest connection will get two more traffic lanes either from Almere/Hilversum to Amsterdam or vice-versa.

In Germany big rig trucks are banned on Sundays and holidays, including Good Friday.

Why do they park on the shoulders, instead than on the streets and avenues of the nearest town? Wouldn't it be safer to wait in a city environment than in some highway shoulder?

The local regulations usually ban truck parking within city limits (mostly only allowed on industrial areas). Also; where do you leave hundreds of trucks? First the rest areas, which are usually quickly overloaded. Then the only option is the shoulder.
