Update: Lelystad municipality is now also in favor of the merger, which makes it more likely to pass. Flevoland has 6 municipalities and two of them (Almere & Lelystad) contain 265 000 out of the 370 000 people, which means they weigh in quite a lot. I still expect a division of Flevoland, the remainder may join Overijssel province.

Infrastructure-wise eastern Flevoland and the Noordoostpolder in the north are currently integrating better with Overijssel, with the construction of the 2x2 N50 and new Ramspol Bridge and the construction of the N23 expressway, both towards Kampen.

A4 Halsteren - Dinteloord
They are now a long way cutting down trees in the small forest Dassenberg.
What used to look like this now looks like this:

A pic from the other end at Dinteloord:

Tomorrow I will take a closer look near Klutsdorp and Halsteren, so you can expect pics

A74 Venlo

The Dutch side of the A74 has nearly been completed.

Photos by GrandmasterE, I resized them to an acceptable size. Original photo set here

Sign identification. There is a database with all signs (not for public) and they can easily find signs that way.

A074-100.650-Re-1

A074 is the motorway
100.650 is the exact location
Re-1 is the right carriageway number 1 (i.e. northbound)

Interesting to see the start of this motorway is actually at the German border, and not at interchange Tiglia, based on the hectometer posts.

Driving on the A4 Halsteren - Klutsdorp which is still U/C, that's why I did it by bike:

A lot of trees were cut down to allow the construction of the highway. For pics click here

A4 Delft - Schiedam

Rijkswaterstaat has formally awarded the construction of 7 kilometer A4 between Delft and Schiedam to a consortium named A4ALL, consisting of several Dutch construction companies. Foreign construction companies did not make it, among them well-known names as Strabag, Züblin, Alpine and FCC. Road projects in the Netherlands are not often awarded to foreign construction companies. The total cost of the 7 kilometer motorway is € 898 million.

Is this price so high because the expropriation price for the land is high, or?

Are we talking about the segment in the map below?

Yes it is that stretch.

The price is so high because we're dealing with a combination of nature compensation, placing the road in a trench (it's more of a tunnel, almost) and all sorts of noise reduction measures.

Yes, that's the exact alignment. The reason why this is so expensive is two-fold. First, local opposition resulted in a 2 kilometer long tunnel near the urban area. The other 5 kilometers will be constructed in a depressed trench. This is particularly expensive due to the soft soils and high ground-water levels. Construction will last for a good 4 years, longer than average in the Netherlands.

Will the A4 between Den Haag-Zuid and Delft be expanded to 2+3 just like between Delft and Schiedam or will it remain at 2x2? I know that at the moment there's hardly any traffic there which demands a 2+3 configuration.

Anyway great video keokiracer.

Thank you!
As far as I kow that will remain 2x2. I also heard the new A4 will be incredibly busy: I heard something of 117.000 vpd. Is that true?

The projected traffic volumes on A4 between Delft and Schiedam are around 120 000 vehicles per day. A4 north of Delft will carry 170 000 vehicles per day, at the same time traffic volumes on A13 will not decrease much, to about 160 000 vehicles per day, which means the A4+A13 corridor will handle about 280 000 vehicles per day.

Traffic through the Benelux Tunnel will double to about 220 000 vehicles per day. Traffic on the Brienenoord Bridge will decrease somewhat to 260 000 vehicles per day. Combined, near 500 000 vehicles will cross the Meuse River at Rotterdam via the motorways. In the future, traffic on the Benelux Tunnel will be reduced by the construction of a new tunnel near Rozenburg or Maasdijk.

But 120.000 vpd is waaaay to much for a 2+3 road right?

*sarcasm* They will build the road sholder-running ready */sarcasm*

The road is prepared for a 2*3, which, looking at the cost is a bit meager.. preparing it for 2*4, opening with 2*3 would be a more effective solution.
But, considering the time it cost to get this far, I don't complain!
