It's not so difficult to translate Groenlink into Green left...

Greenleft= left wing hippies/eco terrorists/treehuggers/anti car and working man/eilitist idiots/subsidy spongers/people on a moral high horse... (you get the point).

Only 6-7% of Holland votes for them. Yet they contribute so so much rediculacy in politics, so much stupid decisions and rules. For example GL in Utrecht wants to ban all cars older than 8 years (diesel) and 12 years(petrol) from the city. Elitist retards who don't understand some can't afford a newer car and live in their dream world.

Ahum... I might vote for them and I don't own a car because I can't afford one (neither would I want to, but that's a personal choice I won't bother you with). The only thing elitist about me is that I don't feel the need to insult and stigmatise people whom I happen not to agree with.

Forcing people to buy newer cars which production costs way more natural resources than running an old one is not exactly eco-friendly from my point of view. These so-called "green" policies will only make us to run out of planet faster.

That depends on the methods of recycling for older cars as well as on the expected life cycle of the new cars. Nobody is forced, by the way. Coerced maybe, but not forced.

Well said, I agree with you. I am not left wing, but we still need the balance, otherwise we end up sliding into dictatorship. Snowdog clearly wants anarchy. All he does is spit on authorities.

Honestly I have no idea why snowdog feels the need to add such low grade discourse to the topic, can we just move on ontopic instead of being sidetracked by this nonsense? I read today that they are not tunneling under Leiden?

I spit on anything resisting mobility and freedom yes.
I spit on ''Duurzaam veilig'' yes...

Nothing dictatorship, people want to be able to go from A to B as they please, but a minority opposes this idea. If anything, banning 8+ diesel and 12+ year old petrol cars is dictatorship.

They oppose pretty much any project described in this thread...

And you don't think their ideas are a massive insult to anyone driving a car ( which is a majority?) ?

Words are one thing, ideas ruining the lives of many others (anyone who has a 8+ yr. old diesel in Utrecht, or 12+ yr. petrol car) is in a whole different league.

My tone is this because the days of a Liberal Holland are more or less history. The government keeps taking away more and more freedom, and especially on the mobility front, this has gone way too far. It's only in the past couple of years that some decent progress has been made again infra wise but at the same time duurzaam veilig keeps striking down ruining more and more roads...

You are entitled to any opinion, but there is no need to insult people or use aggressive language. It does not help to get your point across - it does the opposite.

When you speak of 'dictatorship', you are talking about a proposal made by the largest party in the Utrecht city government. I would call that democracy. Also because this PROPOSAL (that's all it is) will probably not be backed by a majority in the city council in the end.

Dude, they are elected parliamentarians, and they speak for the people that voted for them. Whether you like it or not, but it seems to me that according to you, everyone that don't want a motorway in their back garden, or want to breath some fresh air ought to be locked up in prison. I think it's good that other people with other opinions have their say, and I certainly would not call them the names that you do. That is rude and disrespectful, and not very democratic.

A27 Utrecht

The sixth northbound lane along A27 east of Utrecht opened to traffic this morning.

What is the reason for this very asymmetrical setup? Or will the other direction be widened later?

The main reason is that the A12 and A2 have a higher capacity upstream of this widened section than the other direction (A27). Traffic congestion here results in congestion on A12 and even some of A2 as well.

The ultimate plan is to widen this part of A27 to 14 lanes, but that requires some large-scale expansion. The current widening was mainly repaving and slightly widening the existing inner and outer shoulders. The A12 > A27 and A27 > A28 connectors now also have 3 through lanes, which will improve the traffic flow on several nearby motorways.

Finally! However, won't this cause an even bigger mess on the A28 ? I remember there was congestion near every single exit there, or has it been upgraded to 2x3 ?

A28 is partially 2x3. Up to exit Den Dolder. Check this video (other direction):
