A15, Botlek Bridge, Rotterdam

Some aerial photos (using a kite!) of the new Botlek Bridge in Rotterdam. It is part of the A15 widening to 10 lanes.

More photos here;

A10 Amsterdam, previous post

I looked into this, and they do plan to keep six lanes open along A9 at all times during the day. So there will be 14 lanes of capacity for east-west traffic in southeastern Amsterdam.

This segment of A9 will be widened from 2x2 lanes + shoulder running, to 2x5 lanes and a reversible lane. The tunnel has 5 tubes. Construction is from 2015 to 2020.

N298, N299, N300, Parkstad Limburg, outer beltway

The outer beltway of "Parkstad Limburg", an agglomeration of several cities around Heerlen in southern Limburg province, is a planned high-capacity road that encircles this metropolitan area.

The project was put on hold by the Council of State, awaiting a European procedure which may take several years. The province of Limburg asked to start construction on a part of the project that will be useful even if the rest of the project does get canceled. The Council of State has approved the construction of these segments.

The blue segments are allowed to be constructed, the other segments are awaiting European legal approval.

What kind of European approvals are there in Netherlands?

To be technical, there were some issues about nitrogen depositions in two natura-2000 areas, which the Council of State could not issue a judgement over for some reason. So they asked so-called "prejudicial questions" about it at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. But the verdict will take some time.

Hi, I have a questions:

- How many km of motorways are under construction in Holland now?

- What new motorways are under contruction?

I see in this forum that the government is refurbished and building new interchanges on existing motorways but how about new motorways?

I think that Holland has an impressive motorway network, perhaps the best in Europe with Germany and Belgium and I think that most of the network is finished, but I want to know what new motorways are in construction now.

Thank you in advance.

As far as I know it, the only new alignments under construction at the moment as autosnelwegen are A4 Schiedam-Delft and A4 Dinteloord-Halsteren

afaik you're right. That makes 7+11=18 kilometers.

It's mostly roadwidenings that are being done here in NL.

You could also argue that they could've made N31 and N33 into motorways. All that is missing are full-width shoulders and a 130 km/h speed limit.

N65 needs to be converted into A65 between Tilburg and Vught!

Everybody drives 130 km/h on the n31, except for the ring road part.
