I see, thanks. I know about late rush hours in NL, but didn't think the peak would be at 6 pm. Here it's usually at about 4 pm.

On the average Friday, there are jams from 2pm to 8pm all over the place. I always see traffic jams when I leave school at 2pm. I bike home along the Amsterdam-Rhine channel, you know, so I have a very good view of the A2 between Vinkeveen and Breukelen.

Last week i've made some photo's of the A2 between Amsterdam and Utrecht. The works are really getting visible now:

Yeah, that one with the cars in it has caused some traffic jams a few years ago. It was caused by the beautiful and expensive cars in it. Nowadays people are more used to it and ignore it more. Still, this is the only nice noise barrier in this area. The rest is very ugly and very high.

Dutch style suburban sprawl, i made a video of it this morning. Interestingly enough, there is no single traffic light within this neighborhood.

Hmmm. After 16 years Living in the Netherlands I still can't get used to the uglines of the new neighbourhoods. Way too much modernism (sharp, straight lines. Long rows of flat facades) and not enough ''house like'' homes.
Anyway the roadsystem looks ok. |

That's also why I hate cities like Nieuwegein and primarily Almere. A very unpleasent, dull, new city centre is nothing good, I think

^ Sounds like the "new" image of Vaduz.
Funny short bridges to the end of the vid. Why are they so "high"?

I think it just looks nicer, and has more artistic shapes, instead of a dull grey concrete flat bridge

Yes, it's a bicycle bridge, but it's very well designed, as well as a small landmark.

Another video i made today:
The neighborhood of Westenholte in Zwolle. The street layout is very confusing for outsiders. This is the only throughfare of this neighborhood. No signage at all how to get out of the neighborhood.

Today I made a small highway trip, from Abcoude to Driebergen, A2 and A12, and back. I made 51 pics which I will post asap.

Here they are:
To start with: a small road in Abcoude, laid as an emergency road in the WW2. Looks a bit like A18 in Poland. They are renovating this one though, and this is one of the last bits: ![]() The viaduct over the A2, looking north towards Amsterdam: ![]() Exit 3, Abcoude, entering the A2 towards Utrecht: ![]() A2 southwards, just after Abcoude: ![]() Roadworks for the new lane: ![]() Angry clouds: ![]() For radi, not so shiny crashbarrier ![]() ![]() New piece of asphalt south of Vinkeveen: ![]() ![]() Roadworks: ![]() Wet road (eventually the front window got very dirty, because of the salt on the road) ![]() Roadsideworks: ![]() Ugly noise barrier near Maarssen: ![]() Roadsideworks near Maarssen: ![]() Snow (from the angry clouds ):![]() Ugly noise barrier is being built: ![]() New noise barrier, near exit 7, Lage Weide: ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm sorry if the pics are bad, but it wasn't that good weather, and the front window got very dirty. Still I hope you like it. Btw: this was part 1, part 2 to follow |

Part 2:
Part of the landtunnel near Utrecht (looks somehow like the Berlin wall): ![]() A2 near Utrecht: ![]() Knooppunt Ouderrijn A2/A12: ![]() ![]() ![]() Coming onto the A12 towards Arnhem/Oberhausen: ![]() Bridge over the Amsterdam-Rhine canal: ![]() The roadsurface of this bridge is very bad and really needs to be repaired: ![]() Crossing with the A27 (Almere-Breda): ![]() Famous bottleneck near Bunnik: 2×3 becomes 2×2, giving major traffic jams in rush-hours: ![]() Strange sign of this bottleneck: ![]() A12 continues as 2×2: ![]() The rest is of my way back. A12/A27 crossing: ![]() ![]() Near Utrecht (A2): ![]() ![]() New viaduct near Lage Weide, this shows clearly how wide it's actually going to be: ![]() Ugly soundbarrier again: ![]() Nice clouds again: ![]() Between exit Breukelen and exit Vinkeveen: ![]() Near exit Vinkeveen, very dark clouds (it became a hail storm eventually): ![]() ![]() Exit Abcoude approaching: ![]() WW2 road in Abcoude again: ![]() That was my work for today, I hope you liked it
