No, it could be built. It wouldn't be cheap and easy, however. The huge costs of it were the reason not to lower the train station under groundlevel.

The airplane over the motorway is nothing new, but the big boat is rare

The Pont Napoleon near Vianen. It was built as part of the 'room for the river' project.

is that an anti-bike sidewalk or are these just concrete elements over which the real one will be build? why are they doing a naming ceremony in the middle of construction?

also we need Smilies in the quick reply.

A truck drove off the Lelystad - Enkhuizen dam, into the IJsselmeer (Lake IJssel). No injuries.

A car crashed into a fuel station at full speed along A1 west of Apeldoorn. Multiple vehicles catched fire.

Only if the tunnel work first time. The 500m tunnel in Nijverdal teaches us that any newly build Dutch tunnel can be broken for a very, very, very long time.

Luckily the tunnel fiascos led to a more uniform approach to tunnel safety.

* standardized equipment in every tunnel
* procedures and operations have been standardized
* opening permits have been standardized
* all new tunnels have 4.6 m clearance

This should eliminate the endless discussion about what is and what is not necessary in terms of equipment, protocols and permits. The new 4.6 m clearance is much more generous than previous tunnels at 4.1 or 4.2 m and should eliminate the overheight truck problems.

Press releases about the A4 Delft - Schiedam project have been very minimal though. There is a program called 'A2 Actueel' that shows a new video of the A2 Tunnel in Maastricht every single week. There is no such thing at the A4 project, not even frequent photo updates from official sources.

A2, Maastricht

CNN did a report on the A2 tunnel project in Maastricht.

To non-Dutch speakers, listen how Maastricht is pronounced in Dutch

The Dutch accent when they are trying to speak English is far worse, Engdutch always makes me cringe, sounds terrible, worse than other nationalities speaking english!

Can't wait for the A4 to open, hopefully the A13 will be less of a catastrophe and also hopefully the A20 will be slightly calmer.
