My honest opinion is that your ideas should be banned internationally.

Why did you leave the A10 only to get back on it again?

Because he made a mistake at the Watergraafsmeer interchange, he took the exit to the parallel lane of the A10 instead of the exit to the A1.

So we could get into the Green Utopia

Would be sad see First World countries downgrading into something like Ho Chi Minh City ot whatsoever.

Clean technology is coming. Then an idea like "let's regulate car traffic" will sound absolutely absurd and authoritarian, adding to that the activism to downgrade society and it's infrastructure.

Densest in Europe for sure, 56.5km per 1000km^2.

Somewhere like Singapore might have it beat though.

Singapore is 718.3 km^2 with a network of 186.4km is 259.5km per 1000km^2. Seems a little unfair as it is a city and that's all.

Does the Netherlands beat Luxembourg - which at least has a hinterland (unlike Singapore)?

2,586.4 km^2 with a network of 147km - 56.8km per 1000km^2 - the Luxembourgers have it. Just.

Are you seriously suggesting that countries such as the Netherlands or Denmark are 3rd world countries because they have made the decision to encourage cycling?

And clean technology may be coming but that's in the future and we need to deal with climate change now.

A12 Galecopper Bridge, Utrecht

The 2-year, € 80 million renovation of the Galecopper Bridge in Utrecht was completed this morning. The Galecopper Bridge is the second busiest bridge in the Netherlands with 214,000 vehicles per day.

The renovations were done in two separate phases, there wasn't a workzone the entire time. The bridge was jacked up by 70 centimeters during the summer of 2013 to allow more clearance for shipping. The bridge was then strengthened with additional beams on the outside, capable of an additional lane (from 12 to 14 lanes) which is planned in the future. In 2014-2015 in several phases high strength concrete was applied. This will extend its service life beyond 2040. The bridge was built in 1971 / 1976 (two separate spans).

A9, Badhoevedorp

New satellite imagery captured on 30 June 2015 shows the A9 under construction around the suburb of Badhoevedorp near Amsterdam. It also shows the extensive construction site at the Badhoevedorp motorway interchange (A4/A9).

A1 Diemen - Muiden

The same imagery also captured the massive motorway expansion project along A1 east of Amsterdam.

1. The southern part of the Diemen motorway interchange. Traffic will pass under a six-track railroad.

2. The new bridge across the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. It will supplement, not replace, the other bridge.

3. The A1 will branch off east of the bridge. Just look how wide the embankment is at over 130 meters. There will be 19 motorway lanes at this point.

4. The Muiden Aquaduct. You can see why they are constructing an aquaduct, to replace the drawbridge that opens rather frequently despite the 200,000 vehicles per day on A1. A bridge for local traffic is also constructed.

Will this be the widest aquaduct in the World when completed? I recon the distinction between tunnel and aquaduct is tricky though.

Constructively they are just tunnels or underpasses. However, the term 'aquaduct' is largely a Dutch invention because of the large number of structures that carry water across a roadway. Due to the absence of natural elevation changes, they appear as short tunnels, unlike the historic Roman aqueducts in southern Europe or the canals and pipelines of southern California.

Legally, a tunnel is defined as such in the Netherlands if it is over 250 meters in length. Few if any aquaducts are 250 m or longer. Tunnels like the Maas Tunnel, Zeeburg Tunnel or Wijker Tunnel are not considered aquaducts.
