I did ride on the A2 by bike again today And I made some pics of this new section. Only a few, of which the quality is very very bad. I'll upload them asap. I'm afraid it was the last time I could do this, because I have been spoken to by some workmen, and they told me it's not allowed to ride there (of course.....) So I won't do it again

Ok, here they are.

The future entrance of the new section (just after exit 4 - Vinkeveen):

The highway in use lies behind this dune:

View backwards (sorry it isn't straight - pic was taken over my shoulder - I'm to lazy to stop )

Old and new lane seen from an old viaduct:

hope you like it.

Nice pics, man

The current A2 lanes are actually narrower than other motorways in the Netherlands. only 3,2 m.

Thanks. It's better they're small, now it's at least possible to handle the traffic with 2×3 lanes. I can't imagine how the traffic on the A2 Amsterdam-Utrecht would look like when it was 2×2.

On the news they mentioned 12 km, which is still very bad.

12km is only on the A4 motorway. The A4 is blocked south of interchange Burgerveen, and all traffic is diverted onto the adjacent A44 motorway, where a 25 kilometer traffic jam exists because the A44 is substandard and has only 2x2 lanes. Together, the A4 and A44 carry over 200,000 vehicles per day, which is now being diverted onto one narrow motorway.

Note: the pic above shows the Ringvaart Aqueduct, this is the most important bottleneck in the Netherlands! As you can see, there are only 2x2 lanes without shoulders.

It isn't a very good advertisement for Frank Olsthoorn as well

Better, it looks more modern. We'll have to get used to it, but that won't be a big problem, since they will be placed one by one in a few years time. At the A12 just after it entered NL near Arnhem there are some new signs already. Since I'm going to Cologne next week, I'll try to make some pics. Btw: it looks quite German.

They are ok. But didn't you change it just a year or so ago?

That was only on non-motorways. That signage sucks.

You took not the good things from the german signage...
It's not better.
I like your current signage - for me it's typical Dutch.

About that accident yesterday; some more pics. You can see how narrow this aqueduct is.
