Even I went there when I was 9 or so, my first theme park experience, I thought everything was cool and wanted to go on everything, but on the swinging ship, I nearly s*** myself, I still have a fear of heights . Then I went on the spinning thing ,which made me nauseous as hell .

Turns out the whole Rotterdamsebaan project is a colossal publicity stunt for Drievliet Familienpark

A new tunnel without hard shoulder?

Ein Seitenstreifen ist in NL-tunnel nicht zwingend auferlegt.
Außerdem ist es nur eine untererdische Stadtstraße und nicht eine Autobahn.
A hard shoulder is not mandatory in NL tunnels.
Aside it's just a subterranean city road, not a motorway.

A9, Amstelveen

A new draft environmental impact assessment has been signed by the minister of transportation today for the widening of A9 through Amstelveen. The motorway will be widened from six to eight lanes and is part of the Schiphol-Amsterdam-Almere megaproject.

It was originally planned to construct a 1.9 kilometer long tunnel through Amstelveen. Because this tunnel is not necessary to conform to environmental laws, the municipality of Amstelveen would fund the additional € 100 million to construct it. However, the financial crisis and recession meant that they could not come up with this kind of funding through real estate development. So they scrapped the tunnel plans in 2013.

The new plan is to construct a 1.3 kilometer below-grade trench with a short lid on top of the motorway.

This almost looks like a SPUI (Single-Point Urban Interchange) which has never been implemented in the Netherlands.

No money for where a tunnel would be beneficial, yet we're spending the rest on building the useless tunnel under an unneeded park; Gaasperdammertunnel in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.

Very nice render. Do you have a link to the full scale image, please?

The whole deck seems to be somewhat unnecessary. It's just a traffic area, even cyclists will go over it with a viaduct.

Well it should dampen some noise from the sides and visually mask it a bit. It's quite a big barrier in this town, and literaly splits it in two.

Are the intensities on the A9 at Amstelveen that much higher than at Badhoevedorp? I believe that realigned stretch will only be 2x3, right? My experience on the A9 is that Rottepolderplein-Badhoevedorp is usually the problem and the section through Amstelveen flows pretty well. That makes me wonder if widening that section to 2x4 is very urgent.

The stretch through Badhoevedorp carries 107,000 vehicles per day, while A9 through Amstelveen carries 122,000 - 132,000 vehicles per day. A9 through Amstelveen is not particularly critical right now, though it nears the point of saturation.

Another factor will be the A10 'Zuidasdok' project which will bring A10 underground. It appears that both the A9 expansion and A10 tunnel project will be under construction at the same time which is very unfortunate.

The goal seems to be to streamline east-west traffic via A9 instead of A10. Presently the A10 is slightly faster and shorter than A9 due to the turnoff at multiple interchanges (Diemen, Holendrecht 2x, Badhoevedorp).

A20 Moordrecht

The new Moordrecht exit along A20 between Rotterdam and Gouda was officially inaugurated yesterday. The exit was already open to traffic in November 2014, I'm not sure why they held an opening ceremony so long after the thing was already open to traffic...

They replaced a level crossing with a viaduct and moved the ramps further down A20. It will in the future also join with the relocated N456. Because the Gouwe motorway interchange (A12/A20) is incomplete, traffic from A20 to A12 towards The Hague has to either U-turn at the Gouda interchange or utilize the N456 in the future. The new N456 is seen on the left on this photo.

A4 Delft - Schiedam

The official opening of A4 between Delft and Schiedam happened today. The motorway is now in service for just over two months, the average traffic so far is 64,300 vehicles per day.

There has been a marked reduction in traffic on A13 and secondary roads. Travel times on A13 improved substantially, and traffic congestion was also reduced on A20 somewhat.

N629 Oosterhout - Dongen

Finally an agreement has been reached about the alignment of the new provincial road N629 between Oosterhout and Dongen in Brabant province (northeast of Breda, northwest of Tilburg).

A new 80 km/h alignment will be constructed, including a new bridge across the Wilhelmina Canal. The first studies for N629 commenced in 1999, but they couldn't agree over the preferred alternative.

N629 is a low-standard two-lane road that handles over 20,000 vehicles per day.
