Autosnelwegen.net said they added dikes to protect against the water.

Yeah, I guess that might be one of the reasons why we don't hear that much anymore of it. Just like we don't hear a lot about the construction work on the N/A31 near Harlingen.

A35 is just completed near Wierden, no new U/C sections yet, but they are talking about building it to Nijverdal.

Maybe in the far future, but there are no plans for that at the moment.

And when they decide they are going to build it, there are of course always environmental issues and NIMBY issues...

Those plans of a tunnel from Europe to America are quite unreal and only meant for the far far far far far far far future.

They already have enough problems with the railway tunnel to England. Imagine what happens if a disaster takes place halfway, you're really screwed if you're in it

Come one, Chris! You know that there are big mountains in the southeastern part of our country

And the highest point is.... 322 metres! (the "Vaalserberg" but we must share even that point with Germany and Belgium)

The latest floodings in 1993 and 1995 were unexpectedly not in the 'flat west', bus in the higher parts of east-Netherlands (like on the photo near 's-Hertogenbosch).

That's why I said "half the country"

But yeah, that mount Everest near Vaals is quite impressive

It's quite funny we even refer to it as a 'mountain', while it's just not more that a stupid small hill

yeah, we do the same in hungary.
every hill which has a name is called "mountain"...

cemeteries are on hills when possible to avoid flooding and contamination of ground water...

every hill with cemetery on it is called "cemetery mountain"... :-))

This film could be about a Dutchman or a Hungarian... :-))
