Yeah, Hungary is also quite flat. In the Netherlands there is exactly one so called "Talbrücke" (just can't find the English word), which is situated in Limburg, on the A79. On holiday I met an American who thought that the Netherlands was located in the Alps and that it was very mountainous. I helped him out of his dream

The VID/ANWB record was 970 kilometers, but that was before the TomTom more accuracy era. VID/ANWB only count on motorways while TomTom includes all major roads, including provincial and urban arterials.

There's lots of thick fog today, so no surprise that there are lots of jams

A1 Amersfoort - Apeldoorn

Another fastforward drive, this time on the A1 motorway in central Netherlands, from interchange Hoevelaken to Interchange Beekbergen, a distance of 43 kilometers in just 6 minutes.

This means the A1 east of Amersfoort (120km) is now 100% covered by my videos. The ultimate goal would be to record every motorway in the Netherlands.

That is some goal you have set for yourself Chris. No doubt you will have to through the burden of many traffic jams to achieve your goal! Personally I hope you succeed with as less traffic jams as possible!

There's only 2.450 kilometers of motorway in the Netherlands. With the fastforward mode, I can record about 4 GB of movie at the time which is approximatly 150 kilometers of motorway, so it doesn't take THAT long

A28 Zwolle - Amersfoort

A drive on the southwestbound A28 motorway, from Interchange Hattemerbroek to Interchange Hoevelaken, a distance of about 60 kilometers. This is one of the most interesting spots on the A28, passing through the Veluwe natural region.

That silver Audi drives really badly. How does it work out with hard shoulders in rush hours by interchanges? It can't be safe for oncoming traffic.

I noticed that silver Audi too. Sometimes I'm gonna drive in front of such guys, turn my signal on and then slowly move to the right.

About your second question; they've constructed additional merging lanes. Note that Dutch motorways often have a shoulder on exit/entrance too, so they didn't had to improve a lot on it to open the shoulder for traffic. They've also constructed SOS lots every few hundreds meters, and all shoulders with traffic allowed have constant camera supervision. This is an obligatory to construct these extra lanes, if they don't have visibility, the can't open the shoulder to traffic.

This caused a lot traffic jams yesterday because it was very foggy.

Very tranquil landscape. The fog makes it even more mystic. It reminds me of the southern part of the German A5 along Rhine.

What speed were you going at, Chris?

What I've noticed is that many even good cars drive quite slowly, it's unthinkable here in Poland

I usually drive the speed limit. 120 km/h where allowed.

I don't drive very fast either. But it all depends on the person and your mood, whether you think 150 km/h (for example) is fast or not. Sometimes I'm not in mood for driving even 120 km/h, but if I'm in a hurry, even 200 km/h seems damn slow.

But in both directions of course! :P

But I think there should be an other objective before: Having all motorways in the Netherlands photographed - in both directions.
And holding this collection up to date.

And I'm only taking videos of roads, which I've got already on photos.
