Me? I haven't been to the USA yet. Do you perhaps know, if I can visit it without biometric passport (I have old one)? (sorry for OT)

This guy checking my passport last summer was just typing things, not scanning. With every EU passport you can visit the US AFAIK.

I asked that question about biometric passports a while ago when I had to renew my passport. They said I could visit the US with the usual Dutch passport.

^ Great then. But why did we have to introduce biometric passports (it was b/c of the US), when I can go there with my old one? Are you sure you can go there with the old Dutch passport without visa? (although I can't imagine getting a visa for a country, for which you don't need visa)

What's a biometric passport exactly? Mine is just a standard issue passport with no chips in it or something.

Apparantly, I have a biometric passport too, but I can't see the chip. Maybe it's behind the photo.

Why would you need visa for an old passport and not for a new one? I have a new one, and I only had to fill in an immigration form (I-94), which was sticked in my passport. In 1998, my parents still had an old passport, and this was exactly the same. However, I don't know how the rules are for Slovenian citizens. For citizens of some newer EU countries a visa for the US is still required.

AFAIK it's in the strip at the bottom side of the plastic part.

By the way, the visa waiver for the US looks like this. There are also some questions on the back side that you have to answer. One of them is if you were involved in any Nazi spy action between 1933 and 1945

And the biometric strip is very clearly visible in this pic, at the bottom.

-edit- Back side of the US visa looks like this.

We haven't needed it for some 10 or 15 years, but (like for every other country) the US said we'll need them, if we don't introduce biometric passports. We introduced them, but I still have the old one.

I assume that they consider the old ones to be good until they expire, only that ones issued after a certain date need the enhancements.

Also, Chris, what, if any, are the 'completion' plans for the N50 between the A28 and the A6?

I love tracing these routes! Watching those (and other) clips, flipping through the seemingly endless still images and tracing the roads, it tells me that the real differences between here and there are only a matter of peripheral details. Very interesting indeed.

AFAIK it stays N50, it's 2+1 now.

The N50 has currently:

2+1 lanes between IC Hattemerbroek (A28/A50) and Kampen-Zuid
1+1 lanes between Kampen-Zuid and Ens
2+2 lanes between the two traffic lights in Ens
1+1 lanes between Ens and IC Emmeloord (A6) including emergency lanes

There are no direct plans to turn it into a motorway, especially since the new bridge across the IJssel river north of Kampen has been recently build with only room for one lane per direction. There are plans to increase the height of the "Ramspol Bridge" across the Ketel Lake because it opens many times per hour for shipping.

Altough this time of the year is hard for making pictures (because of the sun, low lights and, today, wet roads), I still have tried to make some albums:

The A58 between Breda and Roosendaal and the A17 till exit Roosendaal-Noord

The N268 between Roosendaal and the beginning of the A29

The N262 between Belgium (actually: just *before* the border) and Roosendaal

These are quite stupid questions. Even if I were a Nazi or a criminal, I wouldn't say it. They really ask lots of questions that are about nothing. There must be some need to do that
