About the spanish stadia I´m pretty certain that the new Espanyol stadium is out of the question regarding World Cup, only one city can host two stadia and it will be Madrid.
In Sevilla the expansion of the Seville stadium mean it will probably be chosen ahead of the Betis one even if the Betis stadia might be larger by 2018.

I also think they´ll have a few more cities hosting group stage matches, probably Malaga and possibly an uppgraded stadia in either Murcia or Alicante. Also probably one host city in Galicia, either Depor or Celta but both need to expand their stadia.

I've conjured up a little 2 page pdf brochure for a Spain bid and decided on:

Camp Nou 108,000
Nou Mestalla 75,000
Santiago BernabeU 80,000
Nuevo Condomina 40,000
Estadio La Rosaleda 40,000
Estadio San Mames 56,000
La Peineta 73,000
Nou Romareda 45,000
Manuel Ruiz de Lopera 60,000

I think you might want to delete the Queensland sport and athletic stadium from your Australia list, that stadium will never be used for a world cup. You might want to add the Melbourne rectangular stadium (u/c):

and Skilled Park on the Gold Coast (u/c):

Both will be around 30k when completed, the Melb stadium has foundations for an expansion to 50k, I'm not sure about the Gold Coast stadium though. Oh yeah, here's a pic of the MCG (in Commonwealth Games mode):

Thanks Joop! I'm making changes now, but won't add stadia that could be "possibly expanded in the future" to the list as there could be hundreds! It's nice to see a new stadium for the Gold Coast too.

It's not confirmed at all. Simply, Federation hasn't taken a decision yet.

MADRID, Spain (AP) -The Spanish football federation has dismissed reports that it plans to launch a bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

"There isn't the slightest possibility that we would want to host the World Cup at this time,'' federation spokesman Jorge Carretero told the Associated Press. "There is no study, no project, this is only the idea of one man. It has not been discussed within the offices of the Spanish federation.''

The remarks come after recent reports suggesting Spain and Portugal could bid to co-host world soccer's biggest competition.
I was referring to to this, although having read the whole thing it seems the headline is a bit misleading

I've read the same statement in Spanish, and the federation spokesman was refering to the impossibility to bid with Portugal (when Portugal offered it some days ago)

As I read some weeks ago, president of the Spanish federation Angel María Villar wants to launch the bid after he gets renewed as president in the first months of 2008.

If Spain and Portugal would bid together they could outclass an English or Brittish bid easely. England would just not be able to match the numbers...
(let´s see who takes the bate)

Although it's a good idea Spain and Portugal make a bid together, I guess FIFA won't take that easily.

BTW, either Spain or Portugal could totally handle a WC by themselves.

so it's taking two countries to outbid one thanks for praising the quality of our country's bid i applaud you.But an english bid would take on any country regardless of how many joint bids.

Thanks for taken the bate... Here we go.
Actualy Spain does not want to do a joint bid because...

It can take on and maybe even beat England by itself. It does not need Portugal for that. I´ll say it again, England is not able to match the numbers of the top stadiums of Spain. +
I think they don´t want a joint bid with Portugal because of the fact that Portugal beat them for the organisation of the 2004 EC. Guess there still some hard feelings there.

Why would fifa give a WC to a nation which has fans which throw missiles at players on the pitch. Madrid's game last week as an example, and are racists too? (let's see who takes the bait)

Glad to be of service.

I can't understand why skaP187 wants to start these silly 'Billy 2-poo's' games?
