Cool video and cool song.

They assume China is a problem because we're "close" to China - not the case.

Beijing - Sydney = 8,923 km
Beijing - London = 8,160 km

China - Europe = 7,572 km
China - Australia = 7,469 km

As far as continent to continent, there isn't much in it between Europe and Australia. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Because if Australia got 2022, China would not be eligible for 2026 being from the same confederation. Personally I don't think that it's going to be a problem.

they can still bid if they want, it only gives them a longer bidding history, and is China even considering a bid for 2026 ?????

Yeah they can still bid but if 2022 goes to Asia, 2026 most definitely won't. There was a news article i read the other day that China/Hong Kong was considering a bid to host the 2026 WC but nothing is confirmed, only rumours.

Oh God, What a stupid analogy.
FIFA and the rest of the sporting world would go berserk.

A stupid analogy is better than nothing but negativity. That seems to be all you bring.

No apologies.
A complete **** up on the part of our bid leader, and it's almost certainly given Russia's bid a huge boost having its biggest rival shoot itself in the foot like this. I'd be extremely happy about this if I were you.

By the way, the head of England's bid has resigned this morning and a letter of apology have been sent to Spain and Russia.

It basically indicats from the poll its between Australia and the UK , since London is having 2012 its only fair to have it in Australia as Sydney was 2000 and Melbourne (Commonwelath Games) was 2006. Although Brazil is getting 2014 and 2016 who know

2018 AUSTRALIA

Was he on Pot?
Similar to the situation of 2008 when Toronto Mayor ruined eveything for Canada.

What a shame if such a solid bid looses?
The world would have to wait for something beautiful.

By the way, is there again a UK-OZ partnership?
Similar to the one clinched Sydney(Manchester combine) against Beijing for the 2000 Olympics.

He thought he was having a private conversation; he didn't say these things in public. He should have been more aware and more careful (our gutter press are very happy to stoop to these tactics). It was a bad error on his part, not a deliberately suicidal comment (as it would have been had he said it in public).

Thanks to

a) FIFA caring more about personalities than bid details and tradition

b) the idiocy of one senior official

c) the selfish act of a Sunday newspaper

the England 2018 bid is in tatters.

The Dutch presentation last friday was really original with Cruijff en Gullit on bikes presenting the "Green World Championship Bid":
