We don't know anything yet, all we know is Qatar's bid is under investigation and he is implicated. Nothing has been proven, but it's not a position either would want to be in. Don't be a wind up merchant Mike

The Daily Telegraph revealed in September that rumours of collusion between Spain-Portugal and Qatar were widespread in football.

Great! finally british media comes on the scene!

FIFA is taking too long for this thing honestly. If I was there one week, it'd be like your gone, yep your gone and you you are definitely freggin gone, infact you are so gone that you should never show your face in public within two decades of leaving this place, you can never work or even touch a football again and please take your butt kissers with you. That's right you and you GTFO, I don't want to even hear about you useless tossers ever, let alone ever see you. Now leave before I give the human garbage compactor a call.

WTF? This is not true. Paul didn't predict that England would win the rights to host WC. He was just a face of England bid, nothing more.

Anyway, Reap in peace Paul

I think that may favour an english bid because it makes more sense to have 2018 as a "safe" WC. The current economic climate is far from stable afterall so pushing the risk back to 2022 when things might have improved makes sense, it also gives that host over a decade to get ready.

World football body Fifa has written to the Netherlands and Belgium to warn the two countries not to deviate from terms and conditions which Fifa deems necessary to stage the World Cup in 2012. RTL news has a copy of the letter which states that the two countries, who are staging a joint bid, should note that the bid book must contain the ‘minimum requirements in respect of government support necessary’ to stage the event.

The six page letter, from Fifa’s head of legal affairs, then outlines a number of points or clauses which it says are missing from the bid, or are not in line with Fifa’s demands. A spokesman for the Holland Belgium bid told RTL news this sort of letter is quite normal in major contract negotiations. Fifa is due to announce the winning bid before the end of this year.

Leading Belgium politicians have joined their colleagues in the Netherlands and and raised doubts about their country's joint campaign to host the 2018 World Cup less than a week before a team of FIFA inspectors are due to arrive to evaluate their bid.

The leader of the LDD party and a top socialist politician have both questioned whether FIFA should be granted tax-free status during the World Cup and be allowed to impose marketing rules around stadiums.

The new warning by FIFA to the belgium/dutch bid is not. Either FIFA are trying to deflect attention from the big circus going on at the moment in Zurich or they are planning to boot out the bid, not sure what's going on exactly. We could have half the bidding field eliminated before Dec 2nd plus 8 executive members out of the job.

Hahahahahahah.

How is the world backing the Qatar bid?

You've had people vote for you because you've paid them, probably 10% of the world know where Qatar is.

You're very arrogant in your previous posts...
And you think your all high and mighty because you won the AFC Cup...maybe that was because the president is from Qatar

You honestly think that Qatar won that on their own merit? No way Qatar can beat anyone good at anything.

They are not available. Gambling in Russia was made illegal in 2009, except 4 subjects.

2 questions:

1) how can Australia lose a bid to Qatar for the 2011 Asian Cup when they didn't even bid? They thought about it, but didn't. In fact, Qatar ultimately was the sole bidder, so they beat no-one to host.

2) will FIFA be running an inquiry into the death of Paul the Octopus? Given his support for the English bid, are the rumours true that a FSB assassin poisoned him with radioactive sushi?!?!? (to the Russian posters - yes I am joking)

You are right.
Qatar was the only country to officially bid for 2011 Asian Cup.

Im sure Shake Rubbish Bin Hommas had something to do with that.
