Lock it up. We had fun.
Pity we have to wait another 6 or 7 years to find out how much we do or don't know, but once again, even though I don't believe it'll happen - I sincerely hope Australia does get a finals tournament during my lifetime.

Have faith my newly arrived Australian . . . if we remain committed, it's only a matter of time before we host it.

Everything depends on the continuing level of support a WC bid gets from the FFA, government etc. The willingness to keep on trying if we fail a bid...

I dont mean to be harsh..but does Australia deserve a World Cup? Your average australian isnt even interested in the game and they have no history or tradition of football in their country.

Same could be said of the USA, who've had one and are in line to get another pretty soon.

What an absolute joke!! Ukraine were extremely lucky to make it as far as they did & you know it.

And the average attendance in the MLS for 2006 is 15,504
The average attendance for Australian teams in the A-league for 2006 is 13,528

The A-league is in it's second season, MLS has been around for 10+years.

Which would suggest that Australia, with it's 20 million population is taking a far greater shine to the game than America with it's 260 million population.

That will happen at the end of the season when FFA replace them with NQ or Woolongong. The average will go up 5,000 people at least. What many people don't realise is that many Australians enjoy football. At school we spend our lunch playing football. We watch the football at work. It is a part of our lives.

Portugal haven't made an official bid yet. Plus they don't have the stadia strength of the countries listed above.
