Very poor quality, I know but the spire has now arrived and is sitting on the back of a lorry on Bishopsagte. Plenty of construction workers on site tonight to coordinate the unloading. An absolutely monstrous peice of metal, and the finishing touch to a truly outstanding building.

Fantastic update Leytonstonia, that is dedication. Perhaps by the time I wake up in the morning the Heron tower will have its crowning glory in pride of place?

I was just wondering if they'd do the lift at night myself, perhaps allowing them to close Bishopsgate briefly where they couldn't do it during the day?

That is huge. Im surprised they managed to transport is whole. It must have had a escort. Cheers for capturing the moment leytonstonia, if I were you I would have stayed there all night and watched it go up.

Pre-fab spire
- I guess the shrinkage of the spire was dictated by how long the lorry was. Great photos!

That lorry must be like 110 feet long.
Insane! 120 feet is the longest a vehicle can be on British roads. |

Looking good. Is the red box at the base of the spire something to do with securing it in place?

Looking good! I wouldn't mind if the red box was permanent to be honest.

Morning!
Thought it would go up overnight and was craning neck from the moment Heron hove majestically into view as my train crossed Walthamstow marshes. In the flesh the spire is VERY elegant and tapering, got a surprisingly good shot of it on the phone camera from beneath "the mushrooms" @ Liverpool Street but I have no doubt that by the time I get home and upload it it will have been superceded and bettered many times over. Anyhooooo, what a moment eh? been following her since she were a big 'ole int ground and now the crowning glory! Happy daze... CF
