The Market by Platinum, a leasehold retail project on 20 rai near Big C Ratchadamri, is due for completion in early 2017.

Platinum Group Plc, the developer of Platinum wholesale fashion mall in Bangkok's Pratunam area, plans to seek a stock listing early next year to finance four new projects.

The company has not disclosed its fund-raising target, saying only that 700 million shares will be floated to the public, representing 25% of total registered capital.

Par value of the shares will be one baht each.

Platinum plans to spend 8.2 billion baht on four new projects: two hotels and the Wharf community mall on Koh Samui and The Market by Platinum shopping centre in the Ratchadamri area, said president Somboon Wongrassamee.

Located in Samui's Bor Phut area, the beachfront Wharf with 5,000 square metres of retail space is scheduled for a soft opening by the end of the year.

The two Samui hotels are a three-star Holiday Inn Express set to open in mid-2017 and a four-star Holiday Inn Resort opening in mid-2018.

The fourth project is The Market by Platinum under construction on a 20-rai leasehold plot near Big C Ratchadamri. Platinum has a 30-year lease with the Crown Property Bureau.

Due to open in early 2017, the 7-billion-baht project will have 230,000 sq m of retail space, of which 60,000 sq m will be rented to 3,000 small merchants.

"We will build a skywalk connecting Platinum with The Market by Platinum, due to finish by the end of next year, to provide convenience for shoppers who come to shop and dine in the district," Mr Somboon said.

Becoming a listed company will help Platinum raise low-cost funds to foster future growth.

The company's operations include Platinum mall and the 283-room Novotel hotel nearby.

Platinum submitted its listing proposal to the Securities and Exchange Commission on Aug 8. Maybank Kim Eng Securities (Thailand) is the financial adviser and underwriter.

Ahead of the initial public offering, the company has 2.1 billion baht in paid-up capital.

The Chotechurangkul family is the major shareholder with a 77.82% stake, to be diluted to 58.36% after the listing.

Paid-up capital will then increase to 2.8 billion baht.

Some 45% of Platinum's total revenue comes from retail space rental, 26% from hotels, 24% from the mall's food court and 5% from other sources.

When the four new projects are completed, the company's revenue structure will remain the same.

Montree Sornpaisarn, chief executive of Maybank Kim Eng Securities, said Platinum has a great deal of business potential and can grow from annual rent increases and new projects.

For the first quarter of 2014, Platinum reported a net profit of 80.9 million baht on revenue of 307.5 million baht.
