Oh for goodness sake...I was questioning the idiocy of the comment in relation to ICC about "quality construction takes time" and the general comment about "buildings in Dubai being demolished after 50 years." The poster seemed to assume that because ICC is taking an age to build it must seemingly be of a better standard of construction....which is ludicrous when you consider the empire state building was built in less than a year and the advances in construction that would make it possible to build a structure like ICC far quicker than it's current rate. It's lagging well behind Burj Dubai and SWFC, I doubt these buildings will fall down in the next 500 let alone 50 years.

Amen to that...the facade being replaced that is.

The reason it is taking so long, as I have mentioned several times on this thread, is because they're building the WHOLE COMPLEX, not just ICC as a seperate building.

The Island East building is rising ******* rapidly, and that's because it's an isolated site and just one building, not about 20 buildings with 200m+ heights.

World's Tallest Building? Who isn't claiming this title these days? Sigh.

If the data is correct, the observation deck on ICC will be :

1.6m lower than the "Skypod"(lev147) on CN Tower
17m higher than the new observation deck on the Peak Tower(HK) ,
33m higher than the observation deck on Sears Tower,
as high as the lower skybridge on SWFC.
